It was a dark, gloomy November night in Jamestown, with no lights to shine a pathway down the sidewalk. I was making my way home from the late night high school celebration, exhausted with a headache, ready to fall asleep. Turning right on Main avenue I dragged myself step by step with sore feet closer towards home, and accidentally brushed my shoulder against a metal fence. Shrieking in pain, I clasped my fingers around the cut, moaning under my breath.
Ignoring the sharp beating of nerves, I continue walking straight when suddenly my eyes awaken, and look to find a petite girl laying on the side of the rusty road. My first impression is to run up to her and make sure she is alright, but something runs through my mind. My mind is telling me to walk away from her and pretend I don't notice her, while my heart is telling me to help this innocent child. Unsure of what to do my mouth drops, my eyes wide open ready to pop out. Pacing through my chest my heart pumping blood to my body in a quick maneuver. I take a step towards her, slowly cautious to not scare a living soul away and instead comfort her. Bending down on the sidewalk by her, I take a closer look at her noticing the clothes on her ripped up, with mud and blood stains covering it. Her hair is a beautiful chestnut brown , knotted in every direction, her eyes glaring up. She lays there motionless, blinking continuously hearing her paced breathes. Inhale, exhale. Chills ran down my rigid spin.
Debating on whether I should check her pulse, I reach my numb hand into my purse to grab my phone. With my luck I find it not charged. I slip my heels off and grab them into my hand straightening my knees.
I whisper quietly leaning, "I will be right back, I just need to get someone for help. Stay here and I promise help will be on its way."
I rush towards my house entering in a fearful manner screaming for someone to come down and help. My mom and dad come anxiously running out of the living room with a worried look along their face.
"You guys need to come with me and help. I will explain everything later, just please hurry," I spoke with horror.
My mom says in terror, "What happened to your shoulder Serena?!"
There was no time to waste so I moved out the door with them following behind my heels. We make our way out of the house, and onto the street where the little mysterious girl was laying on. I swerve and locate the fence on main avenue, finding the exact metal fence I had hit before finding the girl. I look around and she has disappeared. This could not be happening, its just impossible, unimaginable.
