Rated G (for general) narrated by Hades
I sat there, waiting for my wife to return to me after six long months. I've missed her, wanting her, yet I sat in my relm patiently waiting. I only got to see her once, and it was mid-summer. I was called up by my brother Zeus, and I saw her there. Oh, she looked as beautiful as ever. Her long soft pink hair was done up and adorned with beautiful red flowers, and she wore a lilac gown. She stood next to my throne the whole meeting, then afterwards we sat in the garden dedicated to me (which I rarely visited). We sat there for hours, holding and kissing each other while we catched up on what we've missed.
And now, I get to feel her again.
For those who don't know why we've been separated for so long, it was because an event that occurred several years before. You see, her first time leaving the Underworld, we promised that we'd meet again. I told her that when she's here, she's queen, my equal. And being the goddess of fertility, she knew what those six pomegranate seeds would do. And, so that she could even her stay between me and her mother Demeter (who went crazy over my wife's absence and nearly killed all of the humans), she ate six seeds. Now, I could only have her for the winter and fall, while she stayed with her mother for the summer and spring (you do the math).
I looked out across the plain. I felt impatience come over me as I saw no sign of her. What might've been holding her, I thought. I was about to go get my chariot, when I saw two figures floating down toward me. My eyes widened at the sight of her. My Persephone. She was being held by her brother/ my nephew Hermes, the winged Olympian. They landed in front of me, and as soon as she let go of him she ran into my arms.
"I've missed you my love," she said in my ear. I smiled.
"I've missed you too," I responded pulling back to look into her green eyes. I smiled just at the sight of her, her warm arms wrapped around my neck. We looked back at the messenger god, who stood there smiling big.
"Thank you for bringing me, Hermes," Persephone said happily to the sand haired boy. He nodded and smiled in response.
"I'm glad I could, sis. Be good you two," he called to us as he left.
She looked into my grey eyes, her thick lips pulled in a sad smile. Her eyes dropped, and she ran her hands through my long black hair. I tilted my head a little. "Is something wrong?" I asked worried. She nodded.
"Yes, I just worry for the mortals, that's all," she said beginning to play with my strands. I gave a small smile, knowing of her soft spot for them. She seemed to be one of the few that deeply cared for them.
"I know," I spoke placing my hands at her waist.
"But, now I have to take care of a whole relm at my husband's side," she said her eyes sparkling. She put her arms around me and rested her head against my chest, and I hugged her back resting my chin on her head. Outside became cold, and Helios' chariot was going down faster than usual. This was the shortest day of the year.
"Come, lets go greet everyone," I said, making her light up at the thought. Hecate, Thanatos, Hypnos, and several others. Including our three year old daughter Melinoe. I knew Persephone missed her greatly. She was our first child together.
The portal to the Underworld opened, and we looked at each other again. We kissed on the lips passionately, and held hands as we stepped to the portal. We entered, and dropped into the dark vent, and then finally we saw sight of the blue violet relm we owned together - the large artificial moon shining over the rivers that cut through the land. We slowly walked to the large gate, where Cerberus came, happy to see my wife again. She laughed as she hugged the huge three headed beast.
Then, my white haired friend and companion Thanatos approached us, his dark wings folded on his back. He too was smiling softly as he bowed. "We've missed you, Queen Persephone," he said. She nodded back. "I'm glad to be here," she blushed smiling. He motioned inside as the gates opened. "This way, your majesties," Thanatos said leading us to our home.
