I let my body fall to the ground. I couldn't hold myself up any longer. The hunger I had weakened me. My paws aked and my breath came out in gasps. I was weakened far before the hunger kicked in. I had been running for days. I was scared my alpha would have a change of heart and send someone to kill me before I could even leave our territory. He didn't, or I would have stopped breathing the moment my body hit the ground under his with the slight graze of his teeth. He could of killed me. Why'd he stop? He never seen me as his daughter. He blamed me for my mothers death.
I drove away the thought with a shake of my head but the movement brought a pain to flair at my sides. I yelped and curled into a ball. My breaths became harder to catch. A branch snapped but I couldn't lift my head. I try to push my body off the ground, with the pain I dug my claws in the ground. I couldn't hold it. I fall to the ground in a Heep and my vision begins to blur. With my final breath and a forced smile on my face, finally the pain would be gone. I look up at the approaching blurry figure of a wolf shape figure using the last of my strength I say,"Thank you."
I blink the sleep out of my eyes as the sun blurs my vision and makes my eyes sink to slits. My vision clears and sharpens once more. I lift my eyes and it falls upon a wooden roof. My eyes widen and i try to sit up. The movement come to fast and unwelcome making my head hurt and causes a sting to my side.
"Whoa there, calm down. Don't move to fast."
I look to my left side and my eyes fall upon an older woman. She rises from the rocking chair that sat in the corner. Her dark brown hair was fading in color and turning a shade of grey. Her hair flowed loosely down to her waist. She wore a dark blue dress the hugged her waist slightly starting to stretch that fell to her ankles. She smiled at me. Her brown eyes seem to shine as different shades of brown seemed to swirl together.
"Just take it easy there, i didn't stay up all night keeping you alive just for you die. You need to take it slow is all." she smiled wider. As she spoke an accent i couldn't quite put my finger on it, stuck out.
I opened my mouth to speak but i couldn't think of anything to say. So many words but how to put them in a sentence that was understandable? I nodded and lowered my eyes from hers.
She laughed and it seemed hard not to smile in response.
"Ah, a quite one i see. Well that wont last long here." she says after a moment with a smile.
The door opens with a slight creek and a middle aged man steps in the room. His shoulders are wide an his skin is tanned from the days in the sun. He has the rough beginnings of a beard on his face and his eyes are a bright shade of blue.
"Oh good, shes awake." the man that entered says.
The woman smiles and turns towards the man and lowers her eyes to the wooden floor.
"Welcome to my home Niles."
I smelled his sent. A sent of woods and my eyes seemed to fix on the drop of blood on the frount of his shirt. He follows my eyes and smiles, nodding in understanding.
"Deer." he says.
i stare at him almost ready to bolt. I know i wont get far. Almost as if hearing my thoughts he adds,"Smell me if you want."
I did once more. The faint sent of deers and rabbits clung to him like invisible clothing.
Knowing it wasn't human or wolf blood on him relaxed me.
"What brought you to my territory?"he asked taking a seat in the rocking chair the older woman was once sitting in when i woke.
"Your territory?" i had finally spoke. I didn't realise the words had left my lips until they reached my ears.
Niles smiles and mockingly bows. "My name as you've heard is Niles, and this cabin you stand in is on my very territory. I am the Alpha of this back."
