January 1 should be one of the happiest days of my life, but it is not. And I am not happy, not because the food isn't great or because my dress isn't good enough or because i'm not kissing the hell out of my boyfriend. That's shiz cause i don't even have a boyfriend.. Oh no.. I am not happy because this is the day that I will lose my life... Who would be??

My name is Remember M. Eliaze. I'm 17 years old. My name is kinda nice, isn't it? I am proud to tell you that I am the one who chose my name. I am an adopted child, you see. My adoptive parents lost their child 11 years ago. They adopted me a year after her death. They loved me like how a parent is supposed to love their child. Clarity, their biological daughter, died in a car accident.

I looked at the clock, its already 11:34pm. New Year's Eve is within 26 mins.

"Ooooh. Nice." I muttered sarcastically under my breath

/*Flashback*/
"Come here, sweetie. Someone is here to see you." Sister April called me sweetly.

I hid behind Mother Antoinette because I don't want to go. I know that I'm going to another foster family again. They're scary. If they don't like you, you get brought back.

"Sweetheart, off you go now. Just promise me that you'll behave, okay." Mother Antoinette told me as she tried to make me go to Sister April.

"Yes, Mother Antoinette." I told her. I really trust Mother Antoinette. She's like a mother to us. Well basically she is because she's the one who raised us in this orphanage.

Sister April lifted me up then carried me to the office.

"I already packed your things, sweetie. Dr. and Mrs. Eliaze are nice people." She cooed at me, seeing how nervous I was.

I smiled shyly and nodded to indicate that I heard her.

" Oh my gosh, she looks like an angel." I heard someone say.

I kicked my foot to let Sister April know that I wanna go down.

"Isn't she adorable, honey?" the woman told the man beside her.

"Yeah, she looks just like you." the man told her.

I smiled shyly.

"Sister, I know, based on the papers that she still has no name." the man said to Sister April.

"All the families she went through gave her a nickname. We couldn't really come up with something that fits. Would you like to name her, too?" Sister April asked.

"What if we just ask her?" the woman said.

They all looked at me with expectant expressions on their faces.

"Remember." a voice echoed in my mind.

"Yemembel" that's all that I was able to say. I know I was already seven, but I was still unable to speak much because of some kind of trauma. That's what they told me. The cause of that trauma, I can't remember.

They all smiled.

"She's so cute. I think she's trying to say 'Remember'", the woman said.

" Remember it is, then," the man said.

"Come, Remember dear. We're going home," the woman whispered to me.

"Home?" I asked her.

"Yes, sweetheart. Your new home." She answered while smiling sweetly.

/*End of Flashback */

"Still thinking about your adoptive parents?" the guy in front of me asked.

"Yes." I answered.

"You still think they're angels, don't you? You can't accept all the bad things they did, so you try to remain ignorant..." He sneered.

I hung my head in shame. My adoptive parents are great people, I know that, but why does it feel like something's wrong? Is it because I can't help but feel like they abandoned me? Don't they realize I'm missing? Are they even looking for me? You musn't think like that. Of course they are looking for you, they love you. You just have to trust them.

"Remember." a voice echoed in my mind again...
