I grabbed my lanyard and Tony held Charlotte’s hand as we walked out of the house and I locked up behind us.

“Tony aren’t you going to get cold?” Even though the day was nice, it could turn cold pretty fast, it tends to happen a lot in the Mission Bay area.

“I have a hoodie in my Tahoe, I’ll go grab it really quick.” I nodded and I loaded Charlotte up in her car seat in the back of my black BMW X5. I kissed her cheek and she giggled happily. I handed her the backpack so she could preoccupy herself during the drive to SeaWorld and Tony locked up his huge Tahoe before coming over to us.

“How come you’re not parked in your garage?” Tony asked.

“Don’t judge me.” I laughed.

“Uh…”

“I don’t know why to be honest, I just didn’t park there.” I shrugged before shutting Charlotte’s door and walked over to the driver’s side. Tony laughed and shook his head before we both climbed in. He gently flicked the two dreamcatchers I have hanging from my rear-view mirror as I revved the engine to life and we both buckled up.

“I see you bought you dream car.” He stated.

“Hell yeah I did, I felt like I deserved to treat myself after working my ass off in Beauty School and then working full time and raising our little girl. It was a ‘treat-me’ kind of present.” Tony put his hands up in defense.

“I am backing you fully, I think you definitely deserved this and more.” I backed out of the driveway and then started to the drive to SeaWorld.

“Good, glad we agree on that.” Tony smiled over at me and then turned back to look at Charlotte who was reading one of her books.

“So she’s a bookworm huh?”

“Oh yes, I told you, she’s really smart for her age, and she practices writing and reading constantly. She’s a little nerd just like me and you.”

“Have you exposed my daughter to Star Wars?” I shrugged.

“Once or twice—“

“Once or twice!? Allison! She has to know the magic of the movies! How come you got her all obsessed with Disney like you and Jaime, but not with Star Wars!?”

“I’m sorry, she has watched the first three movies you know, I haven’t showed her the recent ones.”

“Oh thank God, because we all know those are shit compared to the originals. Well when we get home tonight, if it’s not too late, she’s watching them with me.”

“Whatever you say daddy-o.” Tony laughed.

“And since she likes backpacks so much, I’m going to get her one of those cool Chewbaka or Yoda ones, you know the one where it looks like you’re holding him on your back? Yeah…that would be good.” I giggled.

“So you’re going to spoil her?”

“Yes, that’s the point of having a little girl.” I sighed and nodded. Tony stayed quiet for a moment before he spoke up again.

“How’s your dad by the way?” At the red light I turned to look at him slightly before I turned my eyes back to the road.

“He’s doing really good actually, he misses you—“ Tony scoffed.

“Yeah right, after the way I treated you…he probably hates my guts and I wouldn’t blame him.” I rolled my eyes.

“You know what, you’re so wrong you don’t even realize it, my dad was actually mad at me, not you. He was mad that I didn’t tell you about Charlotte and he was mad that I made you miss out on the first couple years of her life.” I explained simply. Tony looked surprised.
