“How’d you meet Stephanie?” I blurted randomly.

I just needed to know. Tony rubbed the back of his neck before leaning on his elbow.

“After you and I broke up I was single for a few months, then I met this girl named Sarah and we dated for a while but I just…I couldn’t get you off my mind. You have always been irreplaceable. So I was distraught not having you in my life anymore. And then about a year later I met Stephanie and she managed to get you off my mind, then I started falling for her…and we started our relationship. But I could never forget about you. You were still always on my mind. She couldn’t replace you either. No one ever could and I didn’t want them to.” He explained. I sighed but nodded.

“I didn’t know…”

“You were…are…my everything Al, always. Did you uh…did you ever have a boyfriend?” I shook my head bluntly.

“Nope, I just couldn’t get myself to date anyone after you. No one was you, no one compared to you, not to mention, I was too busy working and going to school and raising the little one. Besides, guys…they ward off girls who have children. I was damaged goods Tony.” He grabbed my thigh again.

“Don’t say that…you could never be damaged goods Allison. No guy deserves you.” I smiled sadly.

“Thank you.” I breathed.

He leaned over and kissed my cheek gently and I felt my face heat up. I smiled to myself and he smiled back. When we got home he wanted to handle Charlotte so I let him. I guided him on her nightly routine, brushing her teeth and changing into her pajamas, and then he tucked her into bed. She was too tired for a bedtime story so after we bundled her up she hugged us both and pecked our lips.

“I love you Charlotte.” I whispered.

“I love you too momma.”

“Sleep well my little wonder.” She giggled tiredly. Tony stroked her head gently.

“I love you Charlie.” Hearing him say those words was like music to my ears. Her grin widened but her eyes were still tired.

“I love you too daddy.”

Tony sighed happily and then we kissed her one more time before Tony shut her lamp off and I put the lantern on. We left the room quietly and walked downstairs.

“So…uh…are you going go home?” I asked timidly.

“I guess so, but I’ll be back tomorrow, I want to spend more time with you guys.”

“Don’t you mean her?” I raised my eyebrows in confusion. Tony grabbed my shoulders gently and squeezed them.

“No Allison…both of you, I want to spend time with both of you. So I’ll see you tomorrow at twelve.”

“Okay.” I whispered.

Tony wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me tightly and I leaned on my tippy toes and hugged him back. We held each other amorously for a couple of minutes, no words between us, and God it felt amazing. Tony’s intoxicating scent of heavy Tide laundry detergent and his faint cologne filled my nostrils pleasantly. It was so familiar.

“Goodnight.” I breathed in his ear. Tony kissed my temple gently and pulled back from the hug slowly.

“Goodnight Allison.” He smiled.

I leaned up on my tippy toes and kissed his cheek quickly before I started blushing. He was a little red too and I walked him to the door and made sure he got in his care safely. We waved to one another before I shut and locked the front door. Today had been amazing.
