“Yeah that way she sleeps longer and so your arms don’t fall asleep…because it will happen.” He nodded and stood up carefully but I reminded him that she sleeps exactly like him and movement doesn’t bother her. He was still careful.
We walked upstairs to her bedroom and he gently tucked her in, both of us kissing her forehead. We left the door halfway open before going back downstairs. Tony paused the movie before I grabbed the dishes and went to go clean them up. He put away the leftovers which I was grateful for and then even grabbed the dishes to dry.
“Tony you don’t have to do this.” I said.
“Well I might as well right? I feel bad just sitting there useless while you clean.” I smiled softly and then we finished up. He took a seat at the kitchen table and I moved to go take one too but he grabbed my hand stopping me. I looked at Tony in confusion before he gently tugged me down to his level, having me sit on his lap as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
“T-Tony?” I stuttered.
“Shh…just relax Al…I just need to feel you right now…I still can’t believe you’re back in my life…I just want to remember you right now.” He breathed against the back of my neck, his lips brushing the sensitive skin. I shivered and rolled my shoulders as I felt his hands stroke my waist up and down before wrapping around my stomach.
It took a while to relax but I managed because it was Tony and I leaned into him. It felt old and familiar and I would be lying if I said I didn’t like it. But I had to pull away, so reluctantly, I stood up and Tony looked up at me with hurt in his eyes.
“I’m sorry Tony…I just can’t.” I whispered.
“Why Al?”
“Because you have a girlfriend Tony, one who I am sure you love and care about, she’s been there for you all these years I’ve been gone, hasn’t she? Don’t throw that away just because you think we should be together for Charlotte.”
Tony stood up and took my face into his hands. I looked down at our feet because I just couldn’t face him, but he directed my face up and looked at me sadly.
“Allison I don’t think we should be together just for Charlotte, I mean yeah, it’d be better if we were because then she’d have both parents, but I think we should be together because I love you and I miss you. Just being around you again, I feel like I’m floating on air, and I miss us together, we were so good before I fucked up…I’m different now, I’m grown up and Charlotte makes me want to be a better man and so do you Allison.” I sniffled and shut my eyes.
“I don’t want you ending things with Stephanie just for us…she doesn’t deserve that.” I sighed.
“You can’t tell me what to do Allison! It’s my relationship, and you don’t know anything about it! Do you want honesty? I’ll give you fucking honesty, we don’t have time for each other anymore, she just graduated college and is focused on getting a career and I’m always gone on tour and it just isn’t working, there’s too much tension and time apart!” I bit my bottom lip and looked at him carefully.
“I’m sorry to hear that…”
“Yeah, it sucks a lot, because I do care about Stephanie and yeah I love her, but it’s not the same as it is with you, and now we have Charlotte together, and I…I can’t even think about you being with another guy and making babies with him when it should be me.” I scoffed.
“Well you don’t get to decide that Tony.”
“But we can fix this Allison, please!”
“Tony…you love Stephanie, you should be with her—“
