Cameron POV
"We're ready to head out, 10 minutes to Air Force One. I want everyone on high alert." I speak quietly, I have my ear piece in and my eyes scan the perimeter. The first family of the United States is headed to their ranch in North Carolina for a vacation despite my conversation with the President that they should head to Camp David. It took a lot of planning on my part to ensure that their ranch is completely protected and secure.
It delayed their vacation for one week but they understood that I had to ensure their safety first above all else.
As the head of the Secret Service their safety ultimately falls on my hands, all of the security is approved by me and while it's a high stress position it's nothing compared to my days in the Navy Seals.
President Chad Grier promoted me to the position when he was first elected, the previous administration didn't care for me because I was blunt, no nonsense and I didn't kiss their ass. The current President appreciates that and so he promoted me to the position that I had vied for.
The first family exits the White House, they have 3 boys and 1 girl giving us a total of 6 family members to protect. I ride in the limousine with them and we arrive at the airport precisely as I scheduled it. I'm strapped with two guns, so are all of my men. In situations like this any threat is dealt with, with lethal force. If we get to the point where we're drawing our weapon it's because it's a threat to the president or his family's lives.
When we are in the air on Air Force One I finally relax, at least until we land in North Carolina.
I sit at the desk in the conference room and review the plan I made for our stay in North Carolina. I planned our movements out with the president to make sure they are never unprotected. I plan to accompany them to every event. I generally am not there protecting them, I'm usually behind the scenes but this trip has made me nervous and I'm not sure why but I trust my gut because it's never let me down.
"Do you ever rest?" A soft voice asks me and I turn to look at Nash, the Grier's second oldest son.
"I do," I reply quietly, I have never really interacted with the children of the president. My main communication is with the president himself or sometimes with the first lady whenever she has an event that she's attending.
Nash approaches the desk that I sit at and I raise an eyebrow because I'm not sure what his intention is. I read his body language, he's nervous and I wonder if he's done something that he doesn't want his parents to find out about. Nash has never caused any trouble, Will has caused enough grief and I think that's why Nash has made sure not to bring additional stress to his parents.
"Can I help you, Nash?" I ask as I close the binder that contains sensitive information that I don't want him to see.
Nash sits on the desk close to me and looks down at me quietly. His eyes roam over my body, I know he's checking me out.
Nash just turned 18, he had a small party at the White House and has generally been a good kid. His older brother is the one that I mostly look out for because he's always getting himself into some kind of trouble. We can't have Will's drunken antics getting out to the public. Even though my job, as the head of secret service, is to protect the first family from physical harm, I also feel compelled to protect the president from bad press. I usually send additional secret service to accompany Will, I've never really spoken to Will but that's the way I prefer things anyway.
I've never been a people person.
Nash's movement is sudden and unexpected, he completely catches me off guard when he straddles me and without hesitation he presses his lips to mine.
