_____________
Blood.
It was bubbling towards the surface, the sun mixing with the watery substance.
It looked beautiful.
He held me carefully like I was fragile as glass, but he had that glint in his eyes.
The nerves in my body abandoned me, and I lost hope to fight him off. The nefarious smirk on his face told me I was going to die; I was happy.
His soft palms wrapped around my throat, and every second his gripped got stronger and my lungs got weaker, and my brain was deprived.
I gasped for oxygen, only for my lungs to be influx with more water.
I felt my body float upwards, as a high pitched scream filled my ears.
“OH MY GOD, SOMEONE CALL AN ABULANCE!”
That was the last sentence I heard before I blacked out.
___
My eyes shot open as I awakened, my shirt sticking to my back, sweat covering my torso. I ripped the covers off as a chill went down my spine. Was that real?
My bedroom door busted open, my father standing there in his boxers. His lips pressed together firmly in a straight line, and his eyes squinting. Please don’t hit me.
I backed into the wall afraid of the outcome.
He sighed, and ran a hand through his bed hair.
"If Diane never died, maybe I wouldn't have to deal with your shit."
His words echoed in my head like he was shouting in my ear with a megaphone.
It's all my fault. Everything is my fault.
My frightened eyes wide open as I hid my face with my hands, my soft cries were barely audible as my lips trembled; I started grinding my teeth.
“Serenity!” he barked.
I lifted my head slowly, my body was shaking more.
“Stop your damn crying.”
I nodded my head as I licked my chapped lips.
“You better stop all that screaming in your sleep, you hear me girl?”
I nodded my head again, looking down at the floor.
“Good,” he spat, walking out of my room as he slammed my door shut.
I breathed a sigh, and got in my bed sliding under the covers.
I said a silent prayer to my sister, and drifted off into another nightmare.
Please God, take me away from here.
