What do I do? Blake hasn't done anything, he hasn't moved towards me, he hasn't said or done anything, I think I might be ok. And then I saw it, the stupid grocery list right under Blake's left foot. If I move slowly without any sudden movements I should be ok, and still be alive. Damn you Charlie this is all your fault. I could so die right now. If I treat Blake like a wild animal. Move slowly, no sudden movements, no drastic changes. I sucked in a breath and inched forward with my arms out in front of me. Come on Kayla you can do this, grab the list and get out of there. As I slowly stepped forward I had my right arm extended my body was slightly leaning closer to the ground. I crept closer to him but somehow because the world hates me I ended to fall flat on my face, great what is this? I screamed in my head. I was right by his foot now, squinting my eyes I did the unthinkable thing. I tapped Blake Steven's foot. "Um, can you just lift up your foot for a second?" Blake just stared down at me wide eyed not doing or saying anything. "You see I dropped my list and I came after it and you're kind of standing on, so if I could retrieve it I'll be on my way" ever so slowly his foot moved I snatched the soggy list up and scrambled to my feet.
"But you aren't going anywhere sunshine" I gulped turning to face him
"Sunshine?" well done Kayla a murder who might kill you says you can't go anywhere and you ask him why he called you sunshine. Wow really?
"I feel like it's going to be ironic" Blake had the nerve to smirk at me, but I couldn't do anything as I was literally trembling in my boots.
"Well I really need to get going now, my brother will be worrying about me, and you know how older brothers can be.
"Call him" Blake gestured with his hand to my pocket. I tumbled pulling my phone out and dialing Charlie's number. Pick up, please pick up
"Kayla what's taking you so long? I'm starving"
"Charlie I almost died" as I said that Blake pulled me against his chest with his arm around my neck. Okay shit I couldn't breathe.
"Kay stop being over dramatic, you have not broken your knee and you did not die" I knew he was rolling his eyes.
"Yeah well there's been a slight hold up" I wheezed out considering as I couldn't breathe properly
"Why are you talking funny?"
"Fell over and winded myself, Charlie can you promise me one thing, if anything ever happens? Keep all my social media updated" sounds sad but I needed to know it was going to be okay.
"What?" I just rolled my eyes and hung up the phone. I turned to face Blake raising my eyebrow
"You know I can't let you go, we have to keep this little .... Incident a secret, no one can know, because no one was supposed to see. And I don't trust you. You'll run off with that pretty mouth of yours blabbing to everyone what you saw. And we really can't have that happen, because sunshine, if I go down you do too, seeing as you were here with me and you could have had as much input in this whole thing." Blake said waving his hands around, I just blinked at him, and oh my god I'm going to stay alive. I'm not going to die today. "You sunshine are my alibi" he smirked, well I'm still alive that's all that matters.
"Okay" I nodded "Anything sounds better than dead, and I am prepared for prison" I whispered to myself, staring down at the soggy list that was barley legible anymore. "I can go grocery shopping now?"
"Let's go"
"Let's as in me and you, hold up there 'Mr bad boy doesn't even begin to explain who I am' me and you I don't think so" laughing holding up my hands at him
"I'm not letting you out my sight sunshine, and plus we both need this alibi, you were out by yourself on the night of the murder, and no one saw you, you have nothing to prove where you are, you're going to be pretty high up the suspect list" ok the criminal did have a point. Without saying anything I turned round and walked out of that place, never wishing to return again.
"You move as slow as my tortoise" I called over my shoulder
"You have a tortoise?"
"No but the grandma line is so over used" I just shrugged. "Well hurry up I'm not waiting for you"
I walked through the doors and re looked at the list Blake came up behind me with a trolley. "What do we need sunshine?"
"You do realise I have a name" I was trying to decipher the list, it was near on impossible
"I just choose not to use it" he huffed off, what is his problem why has he suddenly got so stroppy? Teenage boys I'm telling you.
"Just storm off yeah that's totally fine" I raised my arms in the air walking after him. And then I heard a crash ... Blake had walked directly into a stand of canned soup. "What the hell Blake" as I reached him he pulled me down so I crashed on the floor next to him. "Ouch, I have soft skin, I bruise easily. I'm like a peach really, soft on the outside sweat on the inside" I winked at him "What are we doing on the floor surrounded by soup?" I picked up some soup and held it in my hands.
"We're making a scene" Blake rolled his eyes and smacked the back of my head.
"Ouch what was that for. Oh my god I think I have concussion" I laid down on the floor "It's the end of the world" I whispered.
"Sir are you ok?"
"Yes were fine my girlfriend just had a slight accident, I'm so sorry to cause you the trouble" wait hold up criminal say what? Girlfriend. I think he might be the one with concussion. I rolled my eyes standing up.
"Let's go" I said grabbing his arm and pulling him away cradling soup in my arms so we could pay for it. There was no point even trying to read the list and I've been through too much today to buy more than just soup.
Boys just drain the life out of you.
I don't have the energy for this anymore.
"Let me guess you won't even let me go home by myself?" I raised an eyebrow as we walked out of the grocery store.
"That's correct sunshine" I groaned and marched home with the criminal in toe
"Charlie!" I screamed as I opened the door
"What took you so long?"
"There was a slight incident" I paused looking up at Blake "Yeah incident"
"And who is that?"
"Oh you know Blake right?" of course he did, everyone knew this criminal right here. "We eloped in the store"
"You eloped, in a store, eloped?" Charlie just stared wide eyed at me "Whatever you say Kayla"
I just shrugged my shoulders at Blake. I think we just go away with that. "Did you get what I wrote down?"
"About that" my voice raised an octave, Charlie raised an eyebrow towards me. "It's raining outside and the paper got wet. But we have soup" I said holding the soup out in front of me with a massive grin on my face.
"You're hopeless." Charlie tutted and walked away
"Eloped really? We ran away to get married in a grocery store" Blake glared down at me but I saw a slight glint of humor in his grey eyes.
"I panicked ok, it's really hard to think when you have a criminal standing very close to you knowing that you could die at any minute" whisper shouting at Blake "You put me under a lot of stress" I rubbed my temples. "So much stress"
"What will I do with you Kayla Hill" Blake mumbled looking down into my soul, oh crap here come the pissing my pants part again. And I think having a puddle of piss on the floor is the least of my problems.
