Jasmine

"Jasmine!" My father yelled. I groaned and stood up from the floor, walked out my room and stood at the top of the staircase. "Yes, papa?" I replied. "You almost done up there?" He asked. I nodded my head, like he could actually see. "Yes, papa" "Good, we will be leaving as soon as your brother comes back with the car" "Alright" I mumbled and went back into my nearly empty room. I picked up and box and carried it downstairs. I loaded it up in the moving van, then went back inside and back to my bedroom.

"Need help?" A voice said. I looked over my shoulder, to see my mom standing in the door way. "No, ma'am I got it. Why don't you go help papa" She walked over to me and kissed my forehead. I smiled. "What was that for?" "For dealing with the move so well, here I thought you would be throwing a temper tantrum" She said, laughing a bit. I looked down, frowning.

"I don't want to move to New York, I want to stay here in Miami" I mumbled. "Jas if your father and I had some you can stay with, that we trusted a hundred percent we would let you stay here" "But, Shelby-" "Shelby's house is full" She said, cutting my off. I rolled my eyes. She was right, my best friend Shelby had a lot of little brothers and sisters. I would go insane in a house like hers.

"Well, since you don't need your mothers help I just I'm gonna go" My mom said, looking as her eyes scanned my once furnished bedroom. All that was in it now was two boxes of my personal belongings. "Alright, mommy" I said, placing my favorite quilt in one of the boxes. She kissed my forehead again, then walked out. Soon I was finished up with both of the boxes. I lifted up one and carried it outside, towards the moving van. "I'll get that for you sweet pea" My father said, taking the heavy box out of my arms. "Thanks, papa" I turned and walked back into the house.

I glanced over at my clock, the last thing that was left in my now empty bedroom. I walked over and took it off the hook it was hanging on on the wall, then carefully placed it in the last moving box. I sighed looking around my room. I'm going to miss this place. Some many fun memories with down in my bedroom.

*Flash Back*

"You're so dumb Shelby" I laughed, clapping my hands. "Okay, okay Jas it's your turn" My best friend Seiko told me. I shook my hand and waved my hands letting her know I wasn't going to do it. Every Saturday night my parents would work late and Seiko would come over and spend the night with me, because I hated being in this big house alone.

Shelby shoved the home phone into my chest area and giggled at the face I made after she did so. "Ouch!" I yelled, grabbed my chest and rubbed over my breast. I made a face at herm which made her laugh loud. She was sitting on the edge of my bed, with her legs crossed. I pushed her over, she fell completely off my bed. I laughed and she groaned out in pain. Now we're even. She cursed, then laughed. "I hate you" I gasped, held my chest and faked hurt.

*End Of Flash Back*

Thinking of that night had me smiling from ear to ear, Shelby and I were pranking random people out of a phone book. Whenever we'd spend nights together we would do stupid things like that. Good times. I'm going to miss my best friend. If I could bring her with me best believe I will. Now here comes the hardest part. Saying goodbye to your best friend.

I walked behind my older brother Jason who was carrying my last box out the house. I stopped in my tracks when I saw Shelby sitting along the curb, near the moving van. I inhaled and exhaled slowly so I wouldn't cry. I slowly walked up behind her, then sat beside her on the curb. She looked at me, giving me a small smile. By the redness of her eyes I could tell she's been crying. I put my arm around her shoulder and laid my head on her shoulder. Tears building up in my eyes. I fought some back, but some came out. I wiped them away, along with my nose. I hate that we have to move to New York City.

"When you get to the big apple don't forget about me" I lifted my head and looked at her like she had two heads. Why would think that I would ever forget about her? She's my best friend for god sakes. I couldn't forget about her if I tried, not that I would want to. I looked down at my nails, then back up to her. She had a tear rolling down her cheek. Seeing her like this was breaking my heart. I don't want to leave the person that has been more than a friend to me. Shelby is a sister. Over the years we have been joined by the hip. Done everything together. My only friend, best friend.

I let the tears fall. I couldn't force them back no longer. I wiped my eyes and sniffled. "You crying?" Shelby asked. I nodded my head and looked at her. She smiled, then pulled me into a bear hug. "Aww, I'm gonna miss you so much Jas" "I'm gonna miss you more Shells" We hugged for what seemed like forever and just sobbed onto each others shoulders.

"I hate to break up the sister, sister moment, but Jas it's time to go, mom said" Jason, my older brother told me. I pulled away from Shelby and stood up. She stood up and brushed off hers shorts. I pulled my hair over my shoulders, looking over at my parents car, then at Shelby who was wiping down her face. "Stop crying Shells" I said, rubbing her shoulder. "I can't help it. I don't want you to leave. When you're gone who will I talk to about my problem, who will do my hair, who will make prank calls with me on Saturday nights" She said as her eyes began to tear up and her face got red. I pulled her into a hug as she cried on my shoulder again.

"Mom can I just stay here with Shelby and her grandmother" I whined to my mother as she walked over to us. She only shook her head. "We're gonna miss you Shelby baby, but it's time for us to go" My mom said, then pulled Shelby out my arms and hugged her. "Bye, Mrs. Carter" Shelby mumbled onto my mom's chest.

"Let's take a picture before you get in the car" Shelby suggested. I smiled. "Okay" She pulled her phone from her pocket. I stood close to her, pressing our faces together, making kissy faces at the camera. "Ready?" "Yeah" She snapped it, then looked at the picture. It came out nice. "Put it on IG" I said. "Already on it" She giggled. "Come on, Jasmine" My mom called from the car. I sighed. "Let me go before she gets mad. "Okay, bye, I love you bestie" Shelby said. I smiled and pulled her in for hopefully not our last hug. "I love you too bestie" I replied. I pulled away, opened the car door and got in. I waved at her as the car started up. "Call me when you get to your new house" She said. I nodded my head. The car pulled off. I looked back at my best friend, who looked to be crying again.

I turned forward in my seat and slide down, putting my face in my hands. "Cheer up, sis" Jason said, patting the top of my head. I lifted my head and looked at him. He gave me a small smile. I returned the smile. "I'm just gonna really miss Shelby" I mumbled. "I know you are. I will too" He said, then patted the top of my head again. I laughed a bit, pushing his hand away. "You're gonna mess up my hair" I told him as I straight my ponytail. He chuckled. "You have it in a ponytail, sis" I shrugged my shoulders. He chuckled some more.

The car grew quiet and boring, so I grabbed my ipod out my bag that was between my feet and put my beats on. I scrolled straight to J Cole "Crooked Smile". Whenever I'm listening to him, Miguel or Kendrick Lamar I'm at peace. I closed my eyes and relaxed back. Here I come New Rochelle, New York.
