Henry was a trusted and reliable friend of mine. But he was starting to get suspicious of who the father was.
"Hey Henry." I said walking up to him slyly.
"Hey Val. How's the baby?" He asked turning around.
"Oh she's fine."
"Listen Val I know this is none of my business but why would a father leave his baby behind?"
"He had to I guess." I said shyly shrugging.
"Yea I kinda gathered that part but why?"
"Because. Maybe he was embarrassed. Or maybe he was just too good of a man for me. Or maybe he was dangerous? Maybe he left for the safety of me and the baby. But yes it has pained me. Not having 'the' responsible for 'this' shoulder to lean on. Sure it's hurt. Sometimes more than others. But I know. That he didn't want to. Because I know who the father is. And I know he didn't know about the baby Henry. That's why." I say as I run off crying. I stop and turn around.
"And by the way, you're bending the coil too much. It's gonna be too small for Rose."
I run and run. Into the woods where I know Peter would be. And there he was. Sitting by the lake he had left on. Now frozen over to the crisp. Some kids would dare themselves to run across it. Peter used to be like that. Before the accident. I wouldn't call it an accident more like a trick of fate.
"Hey stranger." I said sitting beside him.
"Hey. You think I'm a screwup? I mean I heard you and Henry talking sounds like nobody notices I'm gone." He said shrugging.
"The one thing I don't think about you is that you are a screwup. And Henry did notice. He asked me where my prince charming was and why you have disappeared. He might be suspicious."
"Thats a strong word. Suspicious. Your grandma got suspicious of your dad for being the wolf. We all know how that story went."
