Anita hurried down the stairs throwing on a long black coat over her black clothes, turtleneck, skirt, tights, and shoes. She had snowy white hair cut short as a bob and emerald green eyes. "Vincent!" she yelled grabbing a black cap and placing it firmly on her head. Immediately a young man in his early twenties strode into the front and stood next to Anita. He wore a grey suit and a red tie. He had pale blue eyes and his wavy blonde hair was neck-length and was pulled back in a small ponytail. "You summoned me, my lady?" he asked humbly. Anita nodded replying crisply, "Yes, I'm going to the bookstore and you will accompany me." Vincent bowed.
"Yes, my lady."
Straightening up Vincent followed Anita out the door.
Walking through the streets of Belgium Anita entered a book store named Arlo's Book Shop Selling and Fixing with Vincent close behind. An elderly man with twinkling grey eyes and balding grey hair greeted her, "Ah... Miss Anita how wonderful to see you again. Are you here for the new Agatha Christie set?" Anita glanced over at Vincent with an annoyed expression and replied, "Yes, however I would also like to try a few of Janet Evanovich's mystery works as well."
"Yes ma'am."
As the shopkeeper went into the back Anita looked throughout the bookshelves. Anita pulled out a book that had the name of Janet Evanovich and began to flip through the pages. "Not bad... I suppose..." muttered Anita closing the book when she finished the first chapter. "Alright!" Anita looked around seeing a group of kids reading comics at the corner. There were three boys and two girls. All of them were smiling and giggling at the comics their eyes gleaming with innocence.
Anita smiled nostalgically as she recalled the time when she was a child ten years ago at the age of five. Her older brother Sebastian who had spiky black hair and warm brown eyes was fourteen years older than her and raised her. She had brown hair back then. At one point Sebastian took her to the library for the very first time and in her young mind she was amazed that you didn't have to buy the books and you could borrow as many as you wanted. At first her brother would read the books making up different voices for different characters, and then later on she would read on her own. Of course ending her reminiscence of her beloved brother always ended with fire ending her brother's life and stopped the memories. Anita clenched her fist and sighed trying to calm herself. "Are you alright, my lady?" asked Vincent in a concerned voice. "I'm fine; it was just a bad memory." At-choo! Startled Anita looked to see a middle-aged man with curly dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He was overweight and wore jeans, tennis shoes, a white shirt and open blue jacket. In one hand he was reading a sports magazine and every once in a while Anita noticed that he was glancing at his watch. Is he waiting for someone? thought Anita curiously.
"Miss Anita I have it here." called the shopkeeper setting down a small brown cardboard box. Anita went over to the counter and handed him the Agatha Christie book. "The book is 12.99." informed the shopkeeper as Vincent picked up the box. "Just as Anita was pulling out her money the bell chimed and in stepped a haughty-looking woman with long red hair and blue eyes. She wore a stylish red skirt, jacket, and high heels, and around her neck was long pearl necklace. Anita immediately noticed the shopkeeper stiffen, his face set, however his eyes burned with anger. "Miss Odell." He stated stiffly. "Ah I'm here for those romance novels by Nicholas Sparks, please." Her voice seemed to drip like fake honey. Just as the shopkeeper was leaving for the back Odell added, "I'm surprised that a filthy old man can still run a cheap shop. The shopkeeper gritted his teeth and said nothing. Anita kept an eye on her in case she was to do something and she did. Two of the boys had gotten into an argument and the larger boy with black hair pushed the smaller boy with dark brown hair who in turn stumbled into Odell. "What do you brats think you're doing!" she screamed pushing him to the ground. "Tim!" cried the girl with long black hair and freckles. Just as she was about to grab Tim Anita suddenly grabbed her arm. "What... another brat?" she said arrogantly. Anita tightened her grip on Odell's arm until she winced in pain and replied, "For your information I am fifteen. Also it is true he bumped into you but not on purpose. You are the one who is acting like an undignified little brat."
