The Pokeball was slapped away by one of the Bellsprout's leaf-shaped hands. It bounced on the ground a few times, then slowly rolled before stopping at the side of Rose's feet. The girl bent down and picked up the red and white sphere, sighing as she saw the Flower Pokemon escaping into the forest. She stuffed the Pokeball into her yellow shoulder bag.

Rose had her brown hair pulled back; her meadow eyes scanned the area for another potential Pokemon, but nothing came into sight. She attempted to catch a new Pokemon to be added into her team of Grass-Types, but her failure just now made her a little discouraged. "Well," She started, looking at the first Pokemon she received, "what do you think we should do?"

Her partner was a pale green Pokemon with bright yellow eyes. The female Pokemon had a large pink flower with a yellow central pattern and white tips sprouting around its neck. Meganium gestured towards the forest with its head, saying, "Me ga, nium!"

A smile formed on Rose's face. "Chase after the Bellsprout?" She asked. Her partner nodded enthusiastically. Rose looked down on the Xtransceiver on her wrist, and said, "Thirty minutes before two, we still have some time. Mom said to go home at three, right? Let's go, then." She was about to mount on her Pokemon when a shout from behind stopped her.

"Hey, you! Let's have a Pokemon battle!"

Rose turned around to see a boy with black hair running towards her. She frowned, and tried to decline. "Sorry, but I don't have time to--" The boy didn't listen, though. He tossed his Pokeball into the air and a beam of white light shot out, an Ambipom materialized in front of him. Rose tsk-ed and reached her hand to one of the spheres on her Pokebelt, then released her Pokemon, too. "Let's finish this quick, Deerling."She said, just loud enough for the Season Pokemon to hear.

"Aren't you going to use your Meganium?" The boy asked, pointing at the Herb Pokemon. "It looks stronger than your Deerling."

Rose shot him a glare, so did her Pokemon. "If you think my Deerling's weak, then you're dead wrong."

Deerling gave its trainer a smile of confidence. It then turned towards its opponent, ears twitching so that it would catch whatever its trainer says. "Take down." Rose commanded calmly. Deerling took off without a second off hesitation, crashing itself into the Ambipom recklessly. The boy and his Pokemon were obviously taken by surprised at the sudden start.

"He-- Hey! No fair! Ambipom, Swift!"

The boy's Pokemon jumped into the air and swung its two long tails, shooting out razor sharp stars at Deerling, but Deerling sidestepped the attacked easily and started to gallop around the Ambipom. Its eyes were glued on the purplish Pokemon, ready to attack. "Jump Kick!" Rose shouted. Her loyal companion immediately turned around and kicked the Long Tail Pokemon with its powerful hind legs, making a critical hit. He's weak, Rose thought. Most people think Grass-Types are weak, they think types like Dragon or Fire are much more stronger. But the love Rose has for Grass-Types cannot be described with words; to her they seem elegant and delicate, but they're strong, with their own hidden thorns.

"Jump Kick again!" The poor Ambipom hadn't even landed yet, and Deerling had connected its solid hooves with its jaw, sending it into the air for the second time. After the attack, Deerling trotted back to its trainer with its head held high, while the opponent's Pokemon dropped to the ground with a loud thud. The winner was clear.

Rose felt a slight sympathy for the fainted Ambipom, but the proud feeling for her Pokemon had filled her heart. "Still think my Deerling is weak?" She mocked the trainer. "If you don't mind, I need to go now."

"Uh... No, sorry if I troubled you..." He replied solemnly.

Rose flashed him a sweet smile. She gave Deerling a treat as a reward before returning it to its Pokeball. That was when she spotted something at the corner of her eyes - a ball of thick blue vines. A Tangela.
