I was exactly 6 years old when I went to my first gymnastics lesson. I was a mid term joiner, I thought I would be on my own and everyone else would have their own group of friends but this lesson was when I first met Anna. Anna is my best friend to this day. We have been through thick and thin, but always stayed together my mum says we are like twins totally inseparable.
The reason I wanted to join gymnastics was because I loved the leotards but my mum thought I joined because I was so fidgety. The leotards they were so bright and colourful. I really wanted one even if I had to physically beg my mum. I remember my mum wouldn't get me a leotard until after my first lesson, so she knew I would go back and get to use it.
So my first lesson I was nervous everyone were doing their own routines. I had nothing to do but watch. My dance teacher Miss Brown was so kind to me (I think she was really nice to me because I was adorable.obviously.) She taught me how to do a tumble I was so happy and I pleaded my mum to let me go back next week. She let me :).
By the time the next week came I could hardly wait to put on my new leotard the smell of the new material, the comfort of it was so nice. Guess what Miss Brown had let me go on equipment on my second week.I tried the beam, well just walking across it and falling of it but there were matts which had comforted my fall.
For the second half of that lesson she started on making a floor routine for me, it had cartwheels, tumbles and even handstands in it unfortunately most times when I did a cart wheel I had fell over but she said I was only learning. Miss Brown said the key part of a routine is when you travel and the way you travel.
I couldn't wait for the next week of gymnastics.
