World.

For some people it can mean one thing, and for others it can mean another thing.

For some, the World is simply Earth. The third planet from the sun. A place where more than 7 billion people inhabit it. Just a place they in habit. Nothing special.

For others, the World is simply their lives. Their World is just already there. Their lives are their World. They all have different Worlds. They all live differently. They all have different problems they face.

But for me? The World is a pursuit of happiness. In order to have a World, you must pursue happiness. You must pursue your dreams. You must find your World. Finding a World is quite hard, in my opinion. I haven't found my World yet, but hopefully I'll find it soon.

Does any of that make sense? Hopefully, yes.

"Maya!!", Lucas says, poking my face continuously. I blink a few times before grabbing his wrist, and raising my eyebrows.

"What, Ranger Rick?!", I say in an annoyed tone. I see gulp before slowly nodding.

"You, Maya, were lost in your train of thought again," he says, "This is like the fifth time this week."

"So?", I say back, as I let go of his wrist. He shakes head and looks back at the board. I smirk before looking back at the front of the class, only to see Mr. Matthews with arms crossed. "Hey!", I say with a wave. I hear snickers from across the classroom.

"Hello, Ms. Hart.", Mr. Matthews says, waving back. "Okay, class today we are talking about, well, how about you run the class today! Free period. Talk among yourselves!", Mr. Matthews says as he walks over to the computer.

"Maya!", I hear Riley whisper. I turn to look at her. "Yes, Riles?", I say with smile. "Whatcha getting me for my birthday?", she says in a happy tone. I can hear Lucas chuckle.

"Riley, your birthday is in two months." She simply shrugs and looks at Farkle, who is writing vigorously in his notebook. "Farkle!", Riley, Lucas, and I say at the same time which is actually pretty odd. Farkle quickly looks up. He nods. "Ladies..and Lucas.", he says right before continuing to write in his notebook.

"What are you doing there?", Lucas asks him. "Calculus homework. I forgot to do it.", he says, not taking his eyes off of the book.

Riley furrows her eyebrows. "We are in the eighth grade. Aren't we suppose to take Calculus in high school?"

Farkle shrugs, and looks up. "It's not my homework. I'm doing it for someone. I'm getting paid. Like, money. Cash! Cabbage! Cheddar Cheese!", he exclaims.

We all laugh. "You know, what I want to know?" Riley interupts, "I want to know what Maya will give me for my birthday.", she says glancing at me.

I sigh. "Riles, I'm not telling you."

She pouts. "I want Farkle-Nation to happen.", Farkle says looking out to distance. I laugh softly.

I look over to Lucas and he was deep into thought. "You know what I want?", he asks, nodding. "No, and I don't care.", I say.

"I want to fly away tonight.", he says, looking at me. I frown.

Was that a reference I just heard? Are my ears deceiving me?

I shake my head. "One, I don't care what you want, Huckleberry. And two, was that a 5 Seconds of Summer reference?"

He leans back in his chair. "Maybe.", he says. "What do you want in life, Maya?", he asks me. I snort.

"Pfft- who cares what I want?", I say looking back at the blackboard.

He does, you big stupid. That's why he asked you.

"I care.", he says. "Who cares if you care?", I mumble. I feel them all look at me. I turn to look at all of them. "Fine. You want to know? I want a World!", I exclaim. I must seem like a lunatic because they all gave me strange looks.

"But, Maya, we already have a World. We live in it.", Farkle says, quite confused.

"Yeah, Maya. Farkle's right. We all already have a World. We each all have one.", Riley adds on, nodding.

I glance at Lucas, who just remains quiet.

"I-" Brrriiing.

I am suddenly interrupted by the bell. Everyone stands up and leaves, except for Lucas. He grabs my arm gently.

"In order to have a World, you must pursue happiness," He whispers. My eyes widen, slightly.

"W-what, Huckleberry?", I say frowning.  He looks into my eyes. "We both want a World. Let's run away together. Let's get away from this place and find our World."

And then he walks out of the classroom, leaving me alone, confused.

What does he mean by, 'find our World'? What does he mean? He's joking right?
