Once again, my necklace came out from behind my shirts neckline and as always, I had to tuck it back in. Kind of aggravating how many times a day I have to fix it when I'd much rather take it off.
It was finally time for my last class of the day. I was mentally thanking the moon goddess for making this day go by faster than normal. I sat down my seat just as the tardy bell rang. I let my chocolate brown hair fall to cover my face and hide the offending necklace. I hated being different and my necklace made me just that.
It had remained cold as ice around my neck from the moment it had been bonded around my neck. My mate being the only one able to release it. I felt as if at this point they were dead. Traditionally one will find there mate after turning 18. That was a year ago.
If I was normal, I find my mate, and the necklace would heat when we came in close contact of one another. There's would hold mirror image of mine and the two would connect to form an intricate puzzle. Right then we would know we were meant for each other. Placed together by the moon goddess.
I hadn't realized I had zoned out until the bell rang signaling us to go home. I threw my books in my locker and slid my purple hoodie over my head as I was walking to my beautiful black Mustang. As normal, I had to shove past the people standing around it and took off.
I had tried countless times to get the necklace off I've tried cutting it, burning it, anyway I could think of, but it refused to break. I pulled in my driveway and saw my mom was home as usual. My dad wasn't meaning he was off discussing pack business with Alpha Reed, my father being his beta. Walking inside, I was hit with the intoxicating smell of rose and vanilla. I was confused but disregarded it even though it smelled amazing and I couldn't seem to get enough of it.
The smell grew stronger as I drew closer to my room. My door was open and when I looked inside, there was someone looking at the pictures of my family and I on my wall. As I walked in further I slowly set my stuff on the floor careful not to make a noise. She tilted her head backwards a little and put her hand on her heart grasping something around her neck and I felt my necklace begin to warm. I looked up at her and in the blink of an eye she was standing in front of me, pressed against me with her arm on the small of my back. Her eyes are golden brown as she growled one word,
"Mate."
