RECKONING

CHAPTER ONE: AWAKENING

1:30am

That's what was shown on the clock next to his bed, he had been staring at it for hours. He didn't know where he was, it seems to be a hospital, in fact, he couldn't remember anything, all he remembered was his name, James.

He winced as he sat up, the IV was painful. James scanned the room, It was painted all white, with a white marble floor that was so clean you could see your own reflection. His bed was set facing the door, a plain white color. The only thing interesting was the window on the left, it was not very big, but he could see stars, and space beyond, James figured he was on a high floor, like the 20th or the 30th, as he didn't see any buildings.

The hospital was strangely silent, almost eerie. No doctors or nurses had been in here recently, to his memory at least. James got curious, why had no one checked on him? Do hospitals work differently now? No, that couldn't be it. After some thinking, James decided that he wanted to explore, he was hungry needed to figure out what was going on. James took out his IV's, sat up, and took his first step.
