Chapter 77

Usagi 77

"Right. Let's get going." Yamato let out a soft sigh as he activated the tracker he had planted on the shoe sole of a Kumo nin.

A lot had happened ever since the Pain fight. A group of ninja from the Hidden cloud had come to the Leaf, beating up Naruto and asking to speak with the Hokage.

Sasuke, it always came back to him. The reason they had come was because Sasuke had apparently taken the host of the Eight Tails, the brother to the Raikage.

...It had been an eventful week. 

"Right!" Naruto grinned as he, Yamato, and Kakashi prepared to set off. 

The Kage summit was due any day now, so they had to get moving.

Naruto still had bruises all over his face as they set off, the bruises present thanks to an enraged Karui beating the shit out him just one day prior. He didn't mind though, as it was that very girl who was now leading their path without knowing it, or without anyone knowing it actually.

He had left the village when he was ordered to stay. Ha, it seemed like Naruto was following Usagi's influence, running away without permission.

The three followed those Kumo nin until they met up with the Raikage and his two bodyguards. 

"We've returned from Konoha." Samui, the blonde woman, who seemed to be the leader of the group and responsible for the other two young ninja there, spoke up.

"Samui... you were followed." The Raikage, a large man with an intimidating expression, spoke.

The three Konoha ninja made themselves known, Naruto speaking the large request he had left the village to ask.

"I want you to stop Sasuke Uchiha's execution."

The Raikage had almost laughed at those words.

Naruto explained further, saying he didn't want Sasuke to be the spark that would cause a war, saying that he couldn't simply sit back and watch his friend be killed. He begged, getting down on his hands and knees as snow fell from the sky above, softly hitting his back.

Snow... It always melted so quickly, disappearing so quickly after it had fallen.

"Friend?" The Raikage furrowed his brow. "He is a criminal. The whole world is after him, not just me."

It was the truth. And the truth hurt.

Sasuke had chosen his path, and now the world was playing out the consequences.

For just a single moment, Naruto couldn't help but think how unfair it was. Usagi was in the same boat as Sasuke. She was a criminal, yet nobody was hunting her down.

Why should she get to live if Sasuke had to die?

Naruto hated he was even thinking such a thing about his good friend, but it was a thought that persisted.

"You are here today because the Raikage called this meeting." A man spoke up, sitting nearby the U shaped desk that seated the current five Kage.

They were finally all assembled, ready to begin their meeting. "My name is Mifune. I will be your moderator. The meeting will begin now." 

It was Gaara, the Kazekage, who spoke up first. Being the youngest in the room and possibly the most hostile, his words were certain to get some backlash. "I'll go first." He began. "Listen up."
