Chapter 1: Rivals?!
Amu awoke the next morning to find something was totally wrong: Ikuto was sitting on the edge of her bed smiling warmly.
"Good morning, Amu." He greeted, extending a hand. "If you sleep in any longer, you'll be late for school."
Confused, the girl blinked a few times to make sure she was awake then shrieked, slapped his hand away and nearly fell out of bed.
"I-I-Ikuto! What the heck are you doing here?" She shouted, her golden eyes narrowing.
"Don't you remember, Amu? I live here. You asked your parents if I could stay here with you and they agreed." He replied, the edges of his lips pulling into a sly smile. "You loved me that much."
Amu almost vomited. The idea of Ikuto living with her was repulsive.
"I did not!" She protested as she slipped off the bed and began to brush her tangled pink hair.
"You did. Two weeks ago."
Ikuto slipped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a hug just as she was about to place a red hairclip into her hair. Amu elbowed him hard in the ribs and armed herself with the hairbrush. It took Ikuto about four seconds to recover from the harsh blow.
"What was that for?" He snapped.
"I want to know what's going on here!" The pink haired girl shouted. "Why are you here?"
Ikuto never had time to speak, for a voice interrupted him.
"Amu! Ikuto! You'll be late for school!" Amu's mom shouted from downstairs.
"One second mom!" Amu called back.
Angrily eyeing Ikuto, she retrieved her clothes from the closet and barricaded herself in the bathroom where she then proceeded to get dressed. Once she got dressed, she burst through the door and franticaly searched for her Charas.
"Ran! Miki! Su! Where are you!" She exclaimed, checking the last place they were which was on top of a cabinet.
"Relax. They're in your bag, all ready to go. Where's your head, Amu?" Ikuto mumbled, handing her the bag.
Amu snatched it and flipped open the cover. Sure enough, four eggs, yellow, blue, pink, and green, were nestled inside.
"Thank you..." She breathed, slipping it over her shoulder.
The sly smile returned to Ikuto's lips.
"Your welcome, sweetheart." He replied, recieving a soft moan from Amu. Gesturing to the door, he added, "Now come on. We've got to get to school."
Nodding, Amu hurried off down the stairs, followed by Ikuto. Ami greeted them at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hi sis! Hi Ikuto!" She cried.
Ikuto greeted her but Amu remained silent.
"About time you came down. What took you so long?" Her mom asked from where she stood behind the counter.
"Er...um...well..." The words caught in her throat.
Amu struggled for something to say, all the while Ami was pestering her "Onii-sama" with questions about highschool and his relationship with Amu. Something finally formed in the pink haired girl's mind and she opened her mouth to speak:
"Have you done something with your hair? Opps! Look at the time! Got to go! Bye!"
She then dashed out the door, leaving her mom dumbfounded. The school soon came into view. Only five minutes until it started. Amu slowed to a walk and entered, her gaze sweeping across the surroundings, trying to locate the guardians. The guardians were clumped together in an isolated group off to the side, whispering fierecly to once another. They fell deathly silent as Amu approached.
"Hi guys!" She exclaimed, smiling brightly.
The guradians only glared at her. Then came something that she would've never expected.
"What are you doing here, Hinamori Amu?"
