What She Will Hide

Her words come booming through the air
like fireworks of life in a sky full of doom
The kindness in her tone
as she reassures you
that the feelings that you are prone
to feel are not real
Each step that hits the ground as she walks towards you
sends a spark through the floor
and immediately you know she is there
Her face glows like a brand new lamp when you first turn it on
when she is happy that you care
about her and the difficulties she face
what she hides behind the shield she holds high
to defend against the thoughts and the feelings she conceals
like guns in an armory full of lost hopes
behind the smile on her face
behind the arms that embrace you
behind the words that soothe you
behind the strength that fools you

She is a tomb full of snakes that slither away
like the confidence she shows
when she tells YOU it's okay
Her whole being feels unnoticed like a small grain of sand in a sea of rocks
She tells herself she is nothing
when the sadness hits
like a baseball bat to the heart
it aches with a pain that nobody can see
because on the outside she is fine
but on the inside
she feels like she is a crime
to humanity for stating her existence
she is a jungle full of life,
but all she can see
is the knife that she stabs in the flesh of the lies
she's been told about how great life can be
if you just let it go

But through it all she climbs
she climbs over the mountains of doubt
and the hills of lost hope
she soars over the landscapes of horrible thoughts
from the time her father got mad
after finding the happiness she sought
The horrors of her past that certainly don't matter
will continue to shatter
her fragile smile made of glass
She will love you for the beauty that you are
but she will never find
the beauty that she is
