The Power

Prologue

"Damn it Lexie just give me your best shot. If you don't do this you're not going to get any stronger!" My cousin Marty demanded. He was standing in front of me without any armor and he looked exhausted, but he wasn't' about to admit that. All he had on was his plain clothes, a red t-shirt and some dark blue jeans to be exact. I couldn't do anything bad to him without him having on some kind of armor but he insisted. Mary ran his hand through his buzz cut dirty blond hair and closed his tired dark blue eyes. We've been doing this all day and I honestly didn't' think I could do this anymore. I mean we've been working on our combat skills and I have improved, but this was just ridiculous. If it wasn't for the twins I wouldn't be getting any breaks at all.

"Can we just stop! The only reason I even agreed to do this in the first place is because of Ryan and Danielle!" I cried referring to my kids. I just couldn't take this anymore between taking care of the kids and training there hasn't been any time for sleep. They were only two months old and because I have babied them so much they haven't even been able to sleep through the night. I was too scared to leave them by themselves for too long. "Look, I shouldn't even been doing this anymore. If Drake hasn't found us yet he isn't going to! It's been nine months, he isn't going to magically find us now!"

"Magic! That is how Drake will find you. It's not the matter of IF he will find you it's the matter of WHEN he is going to find you, Lexie. When the Twins turn five they will gain their powers, half mortal are not. We are on Earth, a MORTAL realm. When they turn five and there is out of control magic going on he WILL find you! So, you might not want to do this, but you are going to do this for the protection of Tyler, Ryan, and Danielle. They are your life now!" Marty shot. I dropped to my knees and started bawling. I knew he was right. Drake was as powerful as they came. He is the oldest living being of our realm, and he controls all three sister realms. Earth was the only one out of his reach, but I knew he would be watching. I felt a hand on my back and I looked up. It was my fiancée Tyler. He helped me up and held me in his arms pulling me close giving me a much needed hug. He wouldn't even be in this situation if it wasn't for me.

"It's okay love. We will get through this. We all just need to have faith. It's for the kids." Tyler reasoned.

I met him when I was sixteen, exploring the Mortal realm, and disobeying every rule my father could give me. Once we met I knew I didn't want to lose him, because it was love at first sight. Our relationship went on for two years before my father found out and told Tyler about our powers hoping to scare him off. That thankfully didn't work, I already told Tyler and it brought us closer, but my father did everything in his power to tear us apart. Then on my nineteenth birthday I found out I was pregnant. My father was furious! He vowed to kill them once they were born because killing my child in the womb would be too good for me. I needed to be punished to the fullest extent. That all changed once we found out it was twins. Twins in our world is a very rare thing. Maybe once a century a set of twins are born. Apart they are just like any other powerful being, but together they are unstoppable. Nothing would be able to stop them. So my father's plan then changed to something even worse then death. A life of slavery for my children under their command. I couldn't let him do that. So I escaped, running away with my cousin Marty and my true love Tyler. I just had to remember what I was fighting for. My kids, Danielle and Ryan. For their grandfather Drake to never get ahold of them. To never be able to let him take over all the realms with my children. It wasn't the right thing to do and I know my mother would see it that way. So that is why I pushed Tyler away and stood up tall. I got in positon and was ready to battle my cousin. "Okay Lets do this."
