While the picnic was tons of fun, it was completely uneventful, for the most part. I played a few games of softball with the girlfriends while Josh talked to his friends and played baseball. I watched him pitch a few games, and as usual, he did amazing.
Chris and Avery stopped by, but despite them coming more than an hour late, they still left hours earlier than everyone else. Avery wouldn't talk very much, even to me, her best friend. She was tired, and she apparently had fallen asleep in the car on the way up to the park. She was half-asleep and on some cough medicine because she had gotten sick from being out in the rain earlier during those dreaded hours. I knew that if I called her later in the day, she'd talk my ear off. It was nothing personal; she was just tired.
I didn't see much of Josh, but I talked to a few girls I had seen around at different games, sporting events, and in classes. Josh, however, did pull me onto his lap when it was time to eat. He spread out in the grass near the picnic blankets, and we laughed as the smell of hot dogs and watermelon filled the summer air.

"Hey A," A familiar voice called out when I walked into the local McDonald's later that day. I carried the black duffel bag into the back room, tossing it on a shelf next to the green one that was usually there. Four letters were writing across it in black lettering, just like mine had the same font across it. Those six letters that I had been learning to write since as long as I could remember: Alexis.
Today, for a change, I had worn my uniform to work. Changing in the bathroom was being a hassle with Mike, the boss, complaining that Gino had to do all the work since I took forever to change. Gino was still digging through the green bag that rested in it's usual place next to mine. His name in black.
"A, I forgot my visor. Got an extra?" Gino questioned, panic in his voice.
"Gino, relax. Aren't there extras in the back?"
"You're a genius, A."
He hurried out of the room. I pulled my long hair up into a pony-tail before pulling the black visor over my head to complete the look. I zipped my bag back up and headed out to the front registers.
"I'm here!" I called out, signaling the two other workers that they were free for the evening, while Gino and I were only beginning the shifts. Gino appeared from around the corner seconds later, wearing his uniform and a visor.
He ran his hand through his shaggy brown hair, flashing one of his gorgeous smiles.
"A, I owe you."
"Nah, no worries." I smiled, but my smile turned to a mischievous grin as I turned back towards him, "Or..."
"Ohhhh, no. Alexis, come on, be fair~"
"Oh please Gino?" I begged, jumping up and down next to him.
"You've been begging me for weeks. It's so not going to happen, Babe."
"But Gino," I whined, "I totally saved your ass today."
"Good thing, too, or I wouldn't be able to watch your cute little one."
"Gino!" I laughed, smacking him with the dish towel that was set on the counter next to the register, "I have a boyfriend."
"Yep, yep. I'm aware of that, Babe."
I turned my full attention to the lady in her late twenties approaching the counter. I turned my back to Gino, and he playfully slapped my ass.
"Gino! Customers!" I hissed, spinning around. I looked forward, a smile on my face. "Hi, may I help you?"
