People Do Crazy Things

Two.

"Mommy! Mommy!"

I looked around, darkness surrounding me.

"Haze! Maria! Where are you?!"I yelled.

"(Y/n)!"

"Shadow! What's going on?!"

"This could've been avoided, (Y/n), but you were too foolish."

Shadow, Maria, and Haze's screams tore through the air. I tried to yell out to them but my attempts were in vain. Nothing came out of my mouth.

All I could hear was their screams. They called my name. It was so painful. I tried running to find them but no matter where I ran, all I found was darkness. The screams got louder.

"Foolish (Y/n)."

*BANG...BANG...BANG*

One at a time, the screams ceased. I fell to the ground. I could feel hot tears rolling down my cheeks. I looked up to see a gun pointed down at me.

"Goodbye, (Y/n)."

*BANG*

I woke up with a gasp. I panted heavily and sat up a bit. I looked down to see that I had been sleeping on top of Shadow. He was lying on his back in the seat. He was asleep but he stirred awoke when I moved more.

"Hey. What's wrong? You've been crying,"he said, his voice hoarse. I wiped my eyes and looked down at my damp fingers. "I just had a nightmare, that's all,"I sniffled. He reached up and rubbed my cheek. He looked up at the window. The sun was just starting to rise. "It's pretty early. Wanna talk about it?"he asked.

I nodded a bit and laid back down. I looked over to see that the kids were still asleep but they had blankets on them.

"So what happened in your nightmare?"Shadow asked as he rubbed my back.

"I was somewhere dark and I could hear you and the kids calling out to me. Then I heard Sonic. You guys began to scream. I tried to call out to you but I couldn't speak. I heard gun shots and the screaming stopped. I fell and looked up to see a gun in my face. Then I woke up."

Shadow kissed the top of my head. "Are you still upset?"he asked. I nodded. "Do you want something to eat?"He asked. I shook my head. "Do you want me to lay awake with you until you go back to sleep?"he asked. "After that, I'm probably not going back to sleep,"I said.

"Then I'm going to stay awake with you,"Shadow said. I sat up and shook my head. "You don't have to. I'll be fine,"I said. Shadow sat up. "I'm staying awake. I don't like for you to be upset,"he said.

I smiled a bit and kissed his lips. "You're such a big softy,"I said. Shadow smiled and gently rubbed my waist. "I know,"he said. I giggled a bit.

I tried to get out his lap but Shadow pulled me back down. "Where are you going?"he asked as he kissed my neck. I smiled and gently pushed him away. "I'm going to the bathroom. I have to use it,"I said. "Okay,"he smiled.

I got out his lap and made my way to the restroom. I ran a hand through my hair and walked into the restroom. I used the toilet and washed my hand. I looked down at my ring. I still remember how happy I was when Shadow proposed.

I smiled and exited the bathroom. The intercoms came on.

Hey guys. This is your pilot speaking. We'll be at our destination in about three hours. Thanks. Hope you guys made it okay.

I walked back into the main area. "Should we wake the kids?"Shadow asked. I nodded. "They'll be crabby if they have to walk around while they're sleepy,"I said.
