The same events took place every night. The stars would shine, crickets would chirp and darkness would wash over. The only source of light came from a small church known as the heaven's gates. There lived a boy named Jason, he was the owners grandson. His dark green eyes seeked the truth, his dirty blonde hair was the sun's rays itself. He was the town's hero; their chosen one. He was a skilled priest for a 18 year old. Little did he know that his journey would barely begin.
Jason's pov
Night had chased away the light once again. There was no escape. I was the only one who was able to escape it. That's why I was chosen to lead the village to purity. I let out a big sigh and gently closed my eyes. Lily would be searching from skies. Lily wasnt human, she was a halfling, part human, part angel. I had barely met the 17 year old a month ago. She was homeless, so I took her in and made her part of my team. Halflings are rare to find, so many priest would kill to get their hands on one. Lily's special though, she is a powerful one. Her blonde hair and tan skin match each other perfectly. Her eyes are the color of silver. Shes not very tall and she looks really fragile.
" Jason! I found something! "
" What is it lily?"
Lily looked me straight in the eyes.
" Its a halfling," she said with a worried tone.
" Whats wrong lily?" I asked.
" Shes being chased, Jason. They have nets and torches, they have dogs running after her." Lily stated as she twirled the locket that showed she belonged to me.
" They can't hurt you lily if that's what your wondering."
" No they can't but they could hurt her."
I barely caught the sight of her teary eyes and forming frown on her face.
" let's go then lily, we can help her then; maybe even have her join."
She smiled at me and sped up with mot aviation.
"Distract them lily, I'll find her!" I yelled out while turning deeper into the forest. I saw her nod before watching her disappear behind the tree tops. I let my supernatural senses open up as I ran past bushes and trees. I could see her running towards the river bank at the end of the woods. The dogs came from different directions, trying to corner her.
"Shit, the wall, she's cornered." I said to myself. The wall was built to keep enemies out from envading the village. This prevented a lot of wars but it also kept us from learning about what was happening outside the village. I closed my eyes and I saw her getting attacked by the pack of dogs, they were clawing at her skin and burying their teeth in her flesh. That's when I noticed the wound on her side. It looked like as if someone had cut her with a sword or a knife. She was trying to fight back but in her weaken state she was powerless. I opened my eyes and ran faster as if my life depended on it. I called out mentally to the unknown halfling.
"Stay alive dammit I'm almost there!" I yelled through our connected minds. I finally made it to the river when I saw her still standing, she was still alive, she was still fighting. She was a bloody mess. She had blood covering her arms and face. The dogs still attacked over and over again. I raised my arm and whipped it across the air causing the dogs to slam into trees and rocks. Her cherry red eyes locked onto my green ones before she callapsed onto the grass ground underneath her. I knew at the moment I saw her still standing, still fighting that she was also a powerful halfling. I only wondered what type of halfling she was. I picked her up and slung her over my shoulder while I mentally called lily to go back to the church. As I walked into the forest, I slipped the locket around her neck and chanted the vows to make her mine. Even if she didn't like being chained to me magically,at least it would keep her safe.
