Chapter-11

Kudrat's slumber broke at 6 with the Gurbaani ( Punjabi Bhakti Song) playing in the Gurudwara( Holy place for Punjabis) near her place. She covered her head with duppatta lying at her bed and again closed her eyes to thank almighty for adding one more day to her life.

It was her routine. Every morning she thank to almighty for giving new day to her life.

She quickly take a shower and decided to help her mother in the kitchen.

"Good morning" Agam wished her morning.

"Good morning bhai" Kudrat chirped like a bird. She was all fresh after bath but soon she remembered her and Agam's conversation and the beautiful smile on her face was replaced by a frown. Lines were clearly visible on her forhead.

" ki hoya?(kya hua?)"Agam asked her knowing very well that what was the matter with her.

"Kuch v taan ni. Tuc betho. Main mummy nu help kar deya kitchen ch( kuch bhi toh nahin. aap betho. Main mummy ko help kar du kitchen mein)"Kudrat said and went to kitchen.

Kudrat was afraid that Agam will read her face if she will be with him. That is why she chose to work with her mother in the kitchen instead of talking to Agam over a cup of tea.

"Kudrat. Putt sab theek ae na( beta sab theek hai na?)"Her mother asked
"Haanji mumma sab theek ae. Mainu ki hona ae( hanji sab theek hai. Mujhe kya hona hai!)"Kudrat replied.

"Acha. Chal cheti breakfast laa de. Tere papa aaun waale ne walk ton wapas( chal jaldi breakfast lga de. Tere papa aane waale hain walk se wapas)"Her mother said.

"Haanji"Kudrat said and tried to immerse herself in work so that she can forget these thoughts which were haunting her from yesterday.
But was it that easy ?!?

Kudrat kept herself busy in household chores whole day to avoid thinking about Arjun and Agam's question.

Arjun called her thrice in the day but everytime she resisted talking much to him by making excuse of her business. She knew Arjun gonna notice this change in her behaviour but she was helpless. More she was trying to run away from these thoughts, more they were coming close to her.

Soon night seeped in. Agam was out whole day for some work and came late at night.

He came to Kudrat's room after having his dinner to check on her but she was not in her room. He thought she must be in washroom but no. He called her but no response. Her phone was plugged for charging and she was no where to be seen in the room.

He checked whole of the house but Kudrat was no where. He thought of asking Maasi about Kudrat but then shrugged the thought at it was quiet late and he don't want to disturb their sleep.

At last he went to terrace to check and there she was sitting on swing and staring at the stars. She was so much drowned in her own thoughts that she was not able to notice Agam's presence.

Agam took a seat beside her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Kudrat panicked with someone's presence but then relaxed when she noticed that it was Agam.

Both remained silent for few moments. Agam chose to remain silent because he very well knew Kudrat and he knew that dam was about to break.

Kudrat rested her head on his shoulder and let out a sigh.

"This is weird bhai. I don't know what is happening with me."Kudrat was speaking and staring at the stars in the night sky.

Agam was listening to her silently. Kudrat continued ," I have never felt this way before. I mean I feel shy around him these days. I am not a shy person you know that. I never cared about my looks, but whenever he is around I want to look my best"

"Hmmm"Agam hummed signaling Kudrat to continue.

" I just want his happiness. I want him to be happy always. His little bit of pain frighten me. I don't know why this is happening with me. But this is not normal"Kudrat said.

"You love him"Agam said.

"No I don't"Kudrat said immediately.

"I am not asking you. I am telling it to you"Agam smirked.

"No bhai. This can't be love. How can I fall in love ?? I am not supposed to fall in love. May be this is some kind of attraction or infatuation but this can't be love. I mean how??"Kudrat spoke in one breath.

"Why not Kudrat? You are also a human being. Why not? Whats wrong with falling in love?"Agam asked her.

" Arjun loves someone else Bhai"Kudrat said and looked into Agam's eyes.

"Arey !! Ohde naal ki farak painda ae. Je oh kise hor nu pyaar karda ae ehda matlab ae ta ni hai na ke tu ni ohnu pyaar kar sakdi( us se kya farak padhta hai. Agar vo kisi aur se pyaar karta hai iska matlab ye toh ni hai ke tu usse pyaar ni kar sakti)"Agam tried to make her understand.

"Nooooooo. I don't love him. May be I like him but not love. He is very close friend. May be thats why I feel this liking towards him "Kudrat finally said and signaled him that she was done with this conversation.

"Acha theek ae meri maa. Chal so ja hun jaa ke. Bot raat ho gayi hai"Agam said. He knew this argument will lead nowhere.

Agam knew that curtains of this new world started to rise up and soon Kudrat will realise what she feel for Arjun.
