I checked my ponytail in the mirror before putting on a top coat of lipstick and speed walking to the office room. The school board would be there in five, my principal would enter in with them, which meant I had to be there right about...now. I smoothed down my skirt, pulled at the sleeves of my grey blazer and walked into the room setting down my briefcase and standing near the door to welcome the members. They were there to decide my future. I made sure one last time that my phone was switched off and in my pocket before I opened the door and welcomed in 7 frowning men and one woman who had the same terrifying expression as the rest of the delegates. I smiled at each one of them, though my try at flattery was in vain as they all looked straight ahead and went and took their seats in an obligatory manner. I gave up my attempt at smiling, when I heard a voice.
'Don't be nervous love, it's all just a formality,' said a smooth deep voice.
I turn around to face a very young man, who seemed to be in his late teens with a perfect quiff on two toned hair and a slim body, with a perfect fitting suit.
'Sorry, sir, welcome,' I said putting on my best formal voice and welcomed him and my principal into the room.

Twenty minutes later, I had earned their approval to start my project and took out my phone in a celebratory manner only to find that I missed twenty missed calls from mum trying to wish me luck for my presentation. Mum was sweet sometimes, but quite annoying at others. I texted my mum how I went before joining my friends back at the lockers.
'So...how did it go Maria?' Chloe asked me repeatedly.
'Chlo, I did it! I got the approval from the board members to for a grant to build an amazing study room!,' I squealed tapping her hands excitedly, when Chloe did her blank stare and I turned around to see what she was staring at.
'Great presentation...Maria, is it?' he said.
'Yeah...sorry I didn't catch your name and thanks,' I blabbered unable to control myself.
'I'm Lars, and I'm joining your class this semester, my dad is part of the school board and enrolled me here,' Lars said running his hands through his quiff.
'Oh, well, that's great, but I have French now, so I better get to it...' I said and grabbed Chloe and my bag before walking to room 416.

When we reached French class, everyone had already taken all the good seats, so Chloe and I were split up once again. This week it was my turn to sit in the empty seat next to Taylor. I mean, Taylor was nice and all, but she gossiped way too much about everyone which often made me feel uncomfortable. Monsieur Dubois walked in and he was in one of his bad moods again, which meant he would start picking on people to do their presentations. His glasses were perched on the edge of his nose and he looked around the room sharply with his eagle like eyes and I pulled my paper towards me hoping he wouldn't see my assignment.
'Aah Madam Gonzalez, would you like to present yours please...'he said using his strict voice.
Ugh just my luck. Luckily I had public speaking skills, so I stood up and began, ditching my blank piece of paper and began to speak.

'mon nom est Maria , je suis âgé de seize ans et je vais à Woodford haute...' Five minutes later, I was done and Monsieur Dubois was back in a good mood and let us continue on with our reading of the French text Domicile. Domicile is about a young girl who is adopted by many families, but doesn't understand the true meaning of home until she meets a young gentleman named Richard, who takes her on the journey of her life then gets married to her. I relaxed for the rest of the period lounging in my thought and daydreams as I had already read the book three times and answered all the questions we had to prepare in advance for our assignment for the book. I looked over at Chloe who seemed to be struggling. She was a genius in maths and science, but humanities and the art of languages never spoke to her like it did to me. I looked at the clock, twenty minutes to go, so I rested my arm in my head and went back to daydreaming.
