another short fic.
Percy didn't remember when the last time he smiled was. Before he fell into Tartarus? Probably. The jokes Annabeth had tried to crack didn't exactly help him either. He felt that he would just die in Tartarus.
"Hey, don't give up just yet," he heard Annabeth's soothing voice.
"How could I not?" He scoffed, "the gods are just using us. Just like all the other quests we had. Maybe if we had learnt from Luke, he did have a point there."
"Don't talk about that. We'd make it out of here."
"If we do, you mean. We're stuck in this place of absolute darkness."
"Hey, don't talk about it this way," she calmed him down. "Maybe when we get out our friends would have solved the feud with the Romans and you could take me to that place you were talking about. Start a family, you know, after a few more years."
Percy smiled to himself. Only his girlfriend could think of something like this at this point.
"But what if we don't make it through this?" Percy asked, "we just want to be happy."
Annabeth whispered into Percy's ears, "that's the thing about happiness," she gulped, "it doesn't come easily."
Percy smiled, "if it did, we'd be thanking Zeus."
