Crystal POV
It's the first day of my sophomore year and I just know nothing will go well today. I can't never have a good day, especially because I'm the younger sister of three of the school's queens and they all hate me with a passion.
Right before I open my door, I take a deep breath. Now, opening my door, I hold my breath. I've gotten so good at this that I can hold my breath for a whole two minutes, enough to be dissed by one of my sisters and leave the house without breathing in the air. Why am I holding my breath, you ask? Well, if you were surrounded by the choking, awful smell of the perfume my sisters wear, you would too. Those things stink, why does anyone even like them? Oh right. Rich people see the "true value" of it. Value, my ass. They just think it's good because it's worth thousands of dollars for a single bottle.
I sped through the house, hoping to go unnoticed, but with my luck that wasn't happening.
" Oh my god! Crystal what are you wearing!"
Sigh. Oh great, I just had to run into Alicia, the loudest and most annoying of all my sisters.
"Converse, bootcut jeans, and a black hoodie. Honestly, how in the world is someone like me, with such a great fashion sense, related to you, someone who wears the same thing every day?"
Maybe because your freaking mom married my dad to get all his money since she knew he would soon die of cancer.
"Your clothes are nothing compared to my beautiful Ralph Lauren and designer clothing. Honestly, it's really insulting to live in the same house as someone like you. Mom really should just kick you out already. Oh wait! She's going to be in Paris for the next two weeks and I'm in charge while she's gone!"
I closed my eyes, just waiting for what was about to come out her mouth. Here it comes...
"You better not be here when we get back from school today. And you won't be here until the day mom gets back. Not only that, but you better not go to the school masquerade dance on the day she gets back, you would just ruin all the fun. Got it?"
Sigh. "Got it."
As I headed back to my room, I heard the sound of her and my other two sisters laughing. Of course, this must have been their plan since the moment we were informed of the trip.
See, what did I say? Already off to a bad day and it's only the first thing in the morning too.
Once in my room, I went and got a few necessities, most which were electronics dad got me when he was still alive, and put them in my backpack. Lifting up my mattress, I retrieved the emergency money dad left for me, just in case something like this ever happened and put it in the bottom of my backpack.
Coming back out my room, I headed for the front door, once again, taking my usual breathing procedure, but miraculously, this time I was able to reach it without interruption. Wait a second. If those three weren't here then...Opening the front door, I saw that our driver wasn't here anymore. Great, now to run five miles to school and hope I'm not late to first period. But, I know that no matter how much I hope that I'm not late, I will be late, because I have less than thirty minutes until the bell rings. Sigh. Why do things like this have to happen to me? Why me?
