"All cats who are old enough to catch your own prey, gather here to listen to what I have to announce!" Yowled Ashstar, lashing his tail, to and fro. "Today, as you may already know, a fox and a cat joined the Clan along with four kits. You six, please come forward!" Ashstar called, loudly. "Okay, your name is Fox, and you have asked for your name not to be changed. The request is fine- the name is what you are. Fox, you are exactly 10 moons old, and you must have a mentor. Willowshine, Fox would like to be a Medicine... Cat. Fox... Do you accept the role? Do you promise to teach this apprentice  your best skills and with patience?" Willowshine nodded. "I do." she said, solemnly. "Fox, do you promise to  to uphold the warriors code and defend it and your Clan with your life?" Fox shuddered. "I- I -I do!" Fox and Willowshine touched noses with  . The Clan cheered. Ashstar turned to the  huge golden, lion-like tom standing next to Fox. "Now," He began. "You,  too, Lion must learn the ways of a warrior. Lion  do you promise to uphold the warrior code and defend with your life?" Asked the leader. "I do." Lion boldly meowed. "Then, until you earn your full warrior name, you will be known as Lionpaw." Ashstar said,  "your mentor will be Flametalon! Flametalon, as my own deputy, I trust that you will try your very best to make Lionpaw, here the best warrior he can possibly be." Flametalon dipped his head respectfully to his leader. Next, he turned to his new apprentice and touched noses with him. Finally, Ashstar yowled, "Ice, Rock, Leaf and Bark, please step forward!" All four kits, in a heartbeat stood beneath the Great Rock, their huge timid eyes fixed, in admiration, upon the smoke-colored cat atop the structure. "Until you are exactly six moons old, you will be known as: Barkkit, Leafkit, Icekit and Rockkit." He told them. "Dewshine! Will you please nurse these four kits until your own arrive? They look about four moons old, you will not have to deal with them too long..." He pleaded. The queen nodded. "I shall, Ashstar, it's no problem at all!" She said. Quickly, all the cats seperated to their dens, the Training Hollow or the Medicine Den. Dewshine herded the four rather rambunctious kits into the safe, warm, cozy nursery that would be where they ate, slept, and possibly played for two whole moons. As dark settled, shining stars appeared in the sky, lighting up the home of StarClan. "One day," Dewshine told the drowsy kits, "You'll be great warriors. Loyal, brave, and strong and clever!"
