I was just hanging out in my room with my sister Mckayla, and our kitten Callie, waiting for when we could leave our home and go on vacation. All of a sudden, the faint smell of smoke started wafting into my room.

"Fire!" I heard my dad yell

"Throw your suitcase out the window!" Mckayla screamed in my ear.

Within 5 seconds, the window was open and our stuff was getting thrown out of it.
"Girls! Go! I have to see why the alarm didn't go off!" My dad screamed
So we grabbed our phones and Callie, in her cage, and went outside, gathering our suitcases outside.

An hour. We were waiting for one hour for our dad to come out of our fire-filled house. Each minute, we backed away another foot, avoiding the smeltering-hot flames that were drifting our way.

It got to hard to breathe. We couldn't stay anymore. We started to walk into our deserted street, and then we had to run. The flames were increasing in size and it was as if they were taking over our neighborhood.

"Dad..." Was all I could muster before I started to feel the salty tears run down my face.
"He can't be gone!" Mckayla whispered to me.

After moarning and walking for a few hours, I heard Mckayla ask me
"Where do we go now?"
"Aunty Jane and Uncle Will?"
"Okay. Aren't they close?"
"Fairly."
So the both of us started traveling to our aunt's and uncle's location. There was no doorbell, so I had to knock.
Knock Knock
No answer.
Knock Knock
Where are they?" Mckayla pondered next to me
"They're not home." I thought to myself, but all I did was shrug, a rush of panic washing over me.
But just as the words passed my mind, I heard footsteps coming from inside the house.
"Phew!" Mckayla exclaimed, brushing her hand over her face,"I was getting worried!"
"They're home!" I exclaimed. I totally jinxed myself.
"Hello?" I heard a strange old man's voice ask as he opened the door. He was not Uncle Will, and I didn't see Aunty Jane anywhere.
"Where is Will and Jane Thompson?" Mckayla asked the elder
"Oh, them? They moved to New York. Apparently Jane sent an email to her brother Ken Jones that they moved but I don't know if he got it."
"Dad" I thought, but instead I said,
"Never mind, have a nice day!"
As we turned around and started walking away, fresh tears started landing on my still wet, red, and puffy cheeks.
"Mew!" Callie meowed sadly at us.
With that, Mckayla faceplamed. "I forgot you where holding her! I thought you put extra blankets in that cage! She's probably hungry."
"The cage was on top of the suitcase, along with cat food, so I put her in it." I replied.
"Oh, okay. Well now where?" Mckayla asked, for the second time today.
"Mom's to far away, but I've heard that some storage lockers were available. I have some money in my suitcase."
