My ears ring as the doctor talks to my mom.
"Leukemia is cancer that originates in blood-forming tissue. The disease is characterized by the uncontrolled growth of blood cells, usually white blood cells, in yhe bone narrow......"
Her voices starts to fade away as my brain fills with several thoughts. 'Will I die? No, you'll be fine' 'I'm going to die. Yep , basically" Multiple thoughts shot around my head, causing my head to start aching.
My mom continued to ask questions and the doctor answered them with no emotion. She's probably used to telling emotional mothers about their child's cancer.
On the way back home, my mom was a sobbing mess. I mean, I don't blame her. Her daughter has cancer. I unlock my phone and decide to text Lauren. What do you even say to your best friend after you find out you're diagnosed with leukemia?
: Laur?
Tiger : yeah?
: I have cancer
Tiger: I'll be over in a few.
