~Chapter 2~

~March 2nd, 2013~

~Hailey's POV~

It was here. It was finally here. The day I had to move in with my mom's new husband and his son. I was up all night packing and panicking. I don't like meeting new people or moving. You could say I'm a little shy.

"Hailey we don't want to be late" My mother's voice rang from downstairs.

I'm shaking. I haven't moved in almost three years. I had adjusted to this town and now I have to leave again. I only have two friends. Yeah, I'm a loner.

Kayla, she's 16. She's my best friend. Then there's Nathan. He's older than both of us. He's 22, Kayla's older brother. He's like an older brother to me as well.

"Hailey Renee!" My mother yelled up the stairs.

I scowled. I've never liked that name. I'm not fond of my first name either.

"Coming" I called back, as I looked around my bare room. I'd miss this room. I'd miss this house. I'd miss my friends. I'd miss this town.

I grabbed my suitcases and ran down the stairs with my phone in my pocket. My mother looked up once she heard my footsteps on the stairs.

"Hailey finally! C'mon all the other bags are in the trucks, do you want you to keep those bags in the car?" She asked.

I nodded, as I walked out to the car with my two suitcases, everything else I owned was already in the trucks. I put my bags in the backseat, as I climbed into the passenger seat.

"Any last words before we go?" She asked me using a soft tone.

"I'll miss you" I whispered, almost inaudible as I looked out of the window at my old house. My mother hopped into the car and started the ignition.

My eyes felt heavy as I drifted into a peaceful sleep. It felt like days. Wrong it was only hours. Shame.

When I opened my eyes again, I jolted awake to find myself outside of the airport. I trudged through security and waited 45 minutes for our plane. Afterwards, we were ready to board. Seated, I had the window seat. I always preferred the window seat. I'm not sure why. Ever since I was little, I've always liked looking out of the window when I got bored.

I slipped my phone out of my back pocket and unlocked it as I found two texts from the greatest people in the world. My friends. I opened our group chat.

Kay: Nath, shut up! I'll miss her! Miss you already babe! Xoxo

Nath: And what you don't think I miss her too?! Love you, Hail, we miss you already. It's only been 2 hours. How will we survive?!

I smiled. I loved them so much. It hurts me that I have to leave them. I smiled again before typing a response.

Hail: I love you guys so much. I don't think I'll survive without you two. This is going to be one long school year without my best buds. I'll try and come during summer. Love you xo

I sighed and locked my phone before I slipped it back into my pocket. I laid my head back down.

This is going to suck, I muttered to myself before I fell asleep again.

Someone shook me and whispered "Hailey, we're here. Our new home. Time to meet Robert and his son" My mother squealed.

I sighed and sat up, and stretched. I looked impressed as I looked the house over. It was big. I sighed as I opened the door and grabbed one of my suitcases. I stretched once my feet touched the concrete.

A man walked up and smiled as he saw me.

"Why Dianna, you didn't tell me Hailey was so beautiful" He gushed. I couldn't help but blush. Few have called me beautiful.

"Thank you" I whispered.

"Now Hailey you're free to call me Robert or Dad if you're comfortable with that" He smiled.

"Thank you... Robert" I smiled. He began to bring our things into the house.

"You can go ahead in; your room is on the second floor. On the right, it's the last door" He smiled, as I rolled my suitcase up the driveway. I took a deep breath before opening the front door.

I marveled at the house before I walked up the stairs. I rolled my suitcase down the hallway when I saw a marked door with the letter 'H'.

I assumed that was my room, so I turned the knob, slowly and entered my new room.

I took a few steps as my mouth opened wide. This room was huge! It even had a beautiful view with a balcony. A huge closest and huge bed. This wouldn't be so bad at all?

After checking out my room and after I unpacked, I became bored. My mom and Robert went out and he told me his son was at the beach right now with his friends, I was alone.

I got up and walked into the hallway. Robert didn't tell me much about his son, except for he demands people stay out of his room.

Me being me, walked down the hallway and stood in front of his door.

Should I? It is his room, should I give him privacy? Why doesn't he want people in his room?

I didn't know much about this boy. Except for he's a few years older than me, and I shouldn't get into his stuff.

Well, he's not here so.

I opened his door and slipped into his room before I finished my thought. I looked around his room. Seemed normal to me, He had a balcony as well. His room was tidy for a teenage boy.

He had a few pictures on his wall. Some, of his friends I presumed.

But then one caught my eye, it was him and some woman. His mother. What happened to her?

I took a few more steps as I looked over all the pictures.

He looked happy. Who knew he could be nice.

"Who are you and why are you in MY ROOM!" A voice hissed behind me.

I quickly turned around and saw my 'new' brother. "I'm so sorry, I should've of invaded your privacy, look I'm Hailey you're new si-"I started.

"I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE NOW GET OUT!" He screamed in my face as he pushed me out of his room slamming the door behind him.

"Look, I don't know why you hate me but-" I started.

"YOU WILL NEVER BE MY SISTER. DIANNA WILL NOT REPLACE MY MOTHER!" He growled.
