Prologue- 3 years ago.

I walk into the dark shadowed room. Pale blue moonlight filters in through an open window to my right, casting light upon the floor. I draw my katana out of its sheath and walk forward, carefully avoiding hidden objects. The blade of katana reflects the pale light giving it the illusion of glowing. I walk over to the window and look outside. Everything is plunged into darkness as the moonlight is suddenly blocked. Senses alert I turn towards the back wall, waiting for my night vision to kick in. An opening in the wall catches my attention. With my katana in front of me I draw closer until stopping right next to the wall. The room was silent, too silent.

Opening up my senses, I catch the distinct sound of shallow breathing, alerting me of another presence in the room. Counting to three I hold my blade upright and step out. I am immediately overwhelmed with the pungent smell of burning flesh. My eyes seek the creature of the night out, in the far corner. I jump over the table it throws at me and plunge my katana into its chest. In order to make sure the creature is dead I have to decapitate its head. The shrill scream of pain emanates through the room as the sickening sound of my katana blade slicing through burning flesh echoes off the walls. The creature's body dissolves into a pile of ashes right before my feet, and disperses into thin air, leaving the stench of burning flesh in its wake.

I hold still for a moment, listening to the sounds of the house or anything that could alert me to another's presence. Silence. All of a sudden the room is bathed in a yellow light, creating a beacon for any unwanted guests. With my katana firmly in my hand I inhale and relax my posture. Waiting. Waiting for what I know is coming.

Thud. Thud. Thud. The heavy footsteps come closer and I look towards the door. Thud. Thud. Thud. The footsteps stop. A pair of black soulless eyes meet mine as the large man walks in the room. He's wearing a suit, black and white as he says it expresses his candor attitude. Yeah right. As I am trapped in his gaze I sheath my katana and walk forward, dodging the furniture. As I am about a meter away from the man I lower myself to one knee and bow my head waiting for him to speak.

"Katrina." He whispers and I silently tremble. His voice is the only thing in this world that can make me tremble. "You will become one of the best, and when that day comes you will be feared by most. You must leave. They are coming. Remember some things in the agency aren't what they seem. Leave, because they will find you. Go." He finishes and I nod. He then walks away out the door and disappears into thin air.

Present- Chapter 1

I park my red Lamborghini in the driveway and get out. I pop the trunk and grab out my weapons duffel bag and my red suitcase, full of clothes before locking my car. I walk over to the front door of the house and knock on the large wooden door. I hear loud footsteps approaching from inside and I take a quick look behind me, scanning the area. The door clicks open and I turn round and face the man in the door frame with a smile.

"Hey dad, long time no see!" I say and walk in the door.

"Katrina, what are you doing here? It's not safe here. The agency are still out there and the threat still hanging over your head." He whispers in my ear and follows me into the house.

The inside is almost as extravagant as the outside, with the large chandeliers and plush carpet. My dad's words register in my mind and I stop and look him in the eye.

"I'm done. I'm not running anymore. I want to finish my senior year and try to be normal for a while. Let them come, I don't care, I'm ready." I say before pausing.

"Katrina I think you should leave, at least until they change bases. You know the danger they pose, especially having them living just around the corner." He says hurriedly walking to the door and opening it.
