Lady Pirate

The sea breeze cut across your face. This was the first time in a long time that you had got to go out on the sea. The sound of the waves crashing against the hull of the wooden ship was like a lullaby. As you stood on the deck and watched the sun rise, happiness grew inside of you.

That happiness stayed until you heard your older brother yell. "(Y/n), what the bloody hell do you think you're doing on my ship?" He glared at you.

"Right now I'm watching the sun rise. What else does it look like I'm doing?" You may have sounded confident, but your stomach had dropped.

"Last time I let you in this ship, you almost got into a fight with a crew mate!" he hissed. That was all true. Of course, the man had disrespected you.

"Well, he shouldn't have made fun of me." Both of you were the only two on the deck. The rest of the crew hadn't woken up yet.

Your brother looked frustrated. "He was a pirate! He didn't know any better!" He ran his fingers through his red hair.

"You're a pirate and you know better," you reasoned. Veins in his neck were visible. "George, don't worry. I'll do just fine. I'm a big child and now, and, let's face it, I am pretty skilled at certain skills that may be useful."

George calmed a little. "Maybe you're right." Truth was, you had never been more wrong.

-----

"The enemy is attacking sir!" a man wearing only tattered pants bellowed. Everyone had been rudely awoken to cannon fire in the midnight.

You clung to the side of the ship, desperate not to die. Others bustled around. George was commanding everyone to do this, that, and the other. It was pure chaos. Secretly, you loved it.

"Excuse me, do you care to tell me what's going on?" someone asked from beside you. How did a crew member not know what was going on? Were they daft?

"If you don't know, I must tell you. We're under attack." You turn to face this stranger. He didn't look like a crew member at all. He wore nice clothes and a bow around his neck. You'd never seen a pirate wear something like that! In all honesty, you'd never seen anyone wear anything like that!

"Ah, thank you!" He paused. "Pirates. Got to love pirates. I don't suspect you're a pirate, seeing you're a lady and all." He was absurdly calm for someone witnessing mayhem.

"I am just as much as a pirate as these blokes running around! You bastard!" How dare he downplay you.

"So I see. And what's your name, Lady Pirate?" The man was kind. It made it harder to be mad at him.

"My name is (y/n)! May I ask, what's yours?" Might as well, seeing as you may die soon.

"I am called The Doctor!" Doctor? What a peculiar name.

"What are you doing here, Doctor?" The boat rocked violently, sending you backward. He pulls you up by your waist.

"I'm going to save this ship and everyone on it. Care to help?" You bent over and picked up a forgotten sword.

"Anything to save this ship." He smiled goofily down at you. In less than a second, you had ran down to where the crew area slept.

He pulled something out of his jacket pocket. It squeaked as he scribbled on the ship wall with it. Plans unfolded before your eyes. You were amazed by this man and what he thought.

"So, this is how we do this..."
