My eye opened to the pale white walls of the Institute. My feet swing off the bed, almost by routine, and slip into my sneakers. Everyone else has fancy dress shoes that they wear and everyone thinks I'm an idiot for it, screw them. I slip on my blank white lab coat on and tuck it in so that it meets the regulation. My shoes are the only exception to those regulations. My hands fumble for the clipboard on my desk and snag the pencil that I use to record the data about our "Subjects or Prisoners", I hate the boss he needs to get off his high horse and get down here and work with a patient. I call them Patents because I'm here to help them not hurt them I could never hurt someone else unless they hurt someone else. My footsteps barely make a sound against the pear white tile floor while everyone else's shoes clack against the hallway floor.

"Stop," Says Carl, the security guard.

"Well not in a friendly mood today are we big fella," I say with a cocky voice, last week he knocked me out on the ground for giving a Patent a glass of water before lunch.

"Just give me your card and shut up," He says, growling.

"Ok, ok don't have to tell me twice" My hands fumble for my blue key card in my coat pocket.

"Here you go," I say backing down.

Then he waved me through into the main hall. Now the most security is little scanners where you scan your card to get to the "Prisoners" rooms. I walk over and grab a muffin at the mess hall and down it and head towards my Patent, Cry.

"Cry," I said, "I need you to come with me"

My hands reach down for the controls and press the buttons to open the door. I reach out my hand to help her down from her cell it's only a foot, but I did it anyway. She stumbles down anyways.

"Careful," I said while steadying her shoulder "My name is Day I'll be your select guide for your stay here"

"I'll be fine Day" as she pulled away from me and shoots me a piercing glare.

I lead her down the hall to the SIM room. I take out my blue card and kind of show it off but discreetly. I want to help her get out, I know she wants to leave. You see when we sleep the Institute uses brainwave tech to link our dreams and thought when we sleep so we can "monitor our Prisoners" I know what she thinks but only at night when they turn the system on. I swipe my card on the scanner and the door opens and there is another hall that has doors on either side. We walk to the door marked 5-A. I swipe my card again and let her enter first. As we walk in the lights flicker on. There is a glass wall on one side. I step up to the Holo-console and readied the SIM program

"Can you enter the room behind the glass ma'am?" I asked politely.

She grimaced when I said ma'am but did what I asked anyways. I hit Enter and a hole in the ceiling opened up and seven wires slithered out and came to rest around Cry. She shudders in fear and her, I winced in sympathy.

"Don't be scared they won't hurt they are used to help with the SIM?" I said with a smile to hopefully calm her down.

"S-S-SIM?" she stuttered "What do you me-" she was cut short when the wires jabbed into her never clusters and she fell limp.
