Mom is so busy in the kitchen because today is the day. Since I woke up around nine in the morning, I think she has not leave the kitchen yet. The smell of melted cheese hangs in the house and it's heaven. We're just going to feed few people and she's like cooking for a whole basketball team. My dad just let her do whatever she wants because you know she's the president in this house and you can't argue with that. I don't know why she's making it a big deal. It's just friends coming, hanging out on an ordinary weekend. I explained it to her and she glared at me, "This is the first time you're inviting friends to come! Of course I'm cooking!"
Mom it's your idea remember?
Dad is finally done painting my room yesterday so I moved all my things there. I never thought blue is perfect for my room and I have to thank him for that. He painted the walls with different shades of blue giving it an ombre effect. I also clean the entertainment room because we're going to stay there and play and I'm really not sure if I want them in my room. It's not that I'm hiding something, maybe because it's kind of personal. Anyway, we'll see about that later.
It's past lunch time already and I can't be still in one place. My nerves are high. As I was saying, it's just friends but because my mom's vibe is contagious, I also start to get nervous. I head to the kitchen and sneak some of the pretzel sticks she's going to use for the milkshakes. I join my dad at the living room who's watching NASCAR and also munching on pretzels. Like father like daughter I guess.
Then the bell rings.
I walk my way to the door and they are finally here, all of them. I glance at Dean who I feel like he's still deciding if he still wants to stay, his hands in his pocket jeans. I remember what Kisses said to me the day before yesterday but I dismiss the thought quickly. I smile and invite them inside. "Hey guys, come in!"
"You never said you're living in a freaking huge house!" Will says, eyes roaming.
Our house is not really huge, literally. He just likes to exaggerate things. It only looks huge because my mom is so meticulous when it comes to designing rooms since she's an interior designer.
Kisses elbows him. "Manners! Go wild later," she whispers and I chuckle.
I lead them to the living room and my parents are there. They look happy and surprised when I introduce my friends.
"Isn't she a pretty girl?" Mom pertains to Kisses and the three guys silently gag behind her. I shake my head with amusement.
"Thanks Ms. Keeland."
"My daughter here is such a cave-woman. You're the first she invited here. I thought I have an abnormal kid," dad shakes his head and I scowl at him. No need to include the cave-woman and abnormal in that sentence.
I'm surprised when I look at Dean who's giving me the unbelievable but charming look. "Stop embarrassing me dad. We're going to the room now okay." I blush.
When we climb on the stairs, Park asks me. "Does the dog next door know how to shut up?"
I laugh. "It means he loves you."
"Can I ask you something?" Will whispers beside me and I nod.
"What does your Dad do exactly? It's okay if that's personal."
"It's alright. He's a pilot."
Will's mouth forms an O. "Cool!"
I open the door to the entertainment room. Will totally goes wild. "Dude, you have a complete set of everything here and holy shit, you have a flat screen the size of football field!" Okay, he's exaggerating.
