My alarm sounded, making me wake to start my day. I laid there a few minutes, drowning out the alarm with my thoughts.
November 17th, I have a dentist appointment at noon, and Amithyst wants me to come over before that. After, I really should go grocery shopping. I guess that depends on how long my appointment takes, or if she wants me to come over again after. I guess i'll just text her, see what she's up to.I cleared my alarms, and saw I had a few messages from her and Finn.
His read:Hey, sorry its so early. If you can i need a ride into town, sometime before noon -ish. Thanks.
I replied and told him I would, and I had a dentist apointment around then anyway. I sent it and opened Amithyst's:
Remember, you're coming over to help me pick out baby stuff. Don't try to skip out on me!
Also, mom wants us over for Thanksgiving dinnerShit, I forgot that was so soon. That means I really need to go to the store before the prices jump through the roof, if they haven't already.
I got up, heading to the bathroom. I used the toilet, brushed my hair, brushed my teeth, and washed my face. Back in my room I chose my outfit for the day, skinny jeans, and my favorite button up flannel. Under that, a white tank top with lace trim, and my favorite fuzzy socks. It was 7:28 and I had to get going, so I slipped on my boots and grabbed my purse. I arrived a few minutes later to Amithyst's house, parking next to her. I texted her saying I was walking in, and continued to the door, locking my car, searching for the key to her house. She opened it before I could insert the key.
"Hey, there you are!"
"Here I am," I teased, "How's being pregnant?"
"Well, imagine feeling really fat, and having that fat kick underneath your skin. Now multiply that by puking, and a tiny bladder."
"So fantastic, I want one!" I scoffed, "Have you found out if it's a boy or girl?"
"Jacob wants it to be a surprise, and he said we have to buy gender neutral colors."
"Okay, we can do that, greens, browns, yellows, and reds, right?"
"I don't like red, but yes," she wrinkled her nose.
I sat on her couch, and ate some of her decorative fall candies.
"That's healthy Eva."
"If you didn't display your candy, I wouldn't want to eat it all the time. This is clearly your fault," I teased.
She laughed and continued to search for her house keys and purse.
"We can take my car, my trunk is empty incase we buy anything large," I said.
"That's fine, maybe on the way we should stop for breakfast, just quick drive through, McDonald's?"
"Yeah."
We headed out to my car and she locked the house door, babbling about the baby and how she knew Jacob was going to pass out during delivery.
It was 8:10am when I decided to call Finn, to see if he wanted to go early since I was going past anyway. He said that was fine, so I detoured my way through his neighbor hood.
"I am pulling into your drive way," I said, pulling onto his street.
"Okay, i'll be on the porch."
He was as he said, and jumped into the back seat when we pulled up.
"Hey, preggers. Hey, Eva, thanks for taking me. My car is in the shop down town, hopefully they've fixed it," he greeted us, with this goofy grin on his face. The one I loved to see when he was happy, it made his face even more attractive. Adding more to my insane crush i'd had on him since high school.
"So you want me to take you to the shop, or just drop you off to walk?"
"I'll walk, you don't have to fight the traffic."
I cranked up the volume on the radio, all three of us dancing and shouting the wrong lyrics. We came to the intersection before town, and I quickly checked around just before crossing Bridge Street.
Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw something. I figured it was just a bug, but I turned my head to check anyway.
I saw the grill of a speeding semi- truck, just before I heard the screams of my friends, glass shattering, and a loud cracking sound at the base of my neck.
Then everything went black.
