He killed him.
He killed Jeramy.
He made sure he suffered.
Corey was arrested.
But he didn't care.
He deserved it.
He wanted to rot in his prison cell.
His heart ached for his other half.
He would do anything to bring her back.
He would dive into the firey depths of hell to bring her back.
He would do anything for her.
And he still wasn't there when she needed him most.
Corey's friends bailed him out of jail.
But he didn't want to leave.
There were no distractions in prison.
He could think of Iris and no one else.
There was one thing that he couldn't do though.
He couldn't kill himself.
He had to live with this.
Corey tried to kill himself multiple times.
But his friends kept holding him back.
Eventually, he gave up.
Why couldn't they just let him go?
He was dead inside anyway.
His whole life was drained.
He wouldn't eat. He wouldn't sleep unless he was too exhausted from crying.
He only felt like a burden everyone was carrying. He didn't feel any different after killing Jeramy.
He avenged Iris, but he was still lonely.
Nothing would ever change that.
Weeks past, and Corey was still miserable.
He would drink a lot and cry himself to sleep.
He missed Iris's funeral, he was still in jail at the time.
He didn't want to be sitting with a bunch of Iris's relatives while they would start talking about her.
That would break him down.
He wanted to be alone with Iris.
Sometimes Corey would get drunk and wander to her grave.
He would just stare at her tombstone and read the letters printed on it. Over and over.
Iris Mary Smith
A beloved Daughter and Girlfriend
Corey would start crying uncontrollably, thinking about his lost love.
He would cry until his head was pounding and his eyes were dry.
Sometimes, he would fall asleep next to her grave.
He would stay there until his friends would pry him off her tombstone, and drag him into their car, ignoring the whimpering and protests from Corey.
Corey hated his life.
Iris dying made him learn that love and life aren't that different.
They're both a kick to the stomach when you least expect it.
The promises you make in life, are meant to be broken.
The promises you make to your lover, are meant to be broken.
You know how someone you love promises they'll love you forever?
They're just basically telling you that forever, doesn't really mean forever.
You love this person now, and you'll either end up hurting that person, emotionally or physically. Or your actions towards that person will cause them pain...
Or death.
It made Corey's heart ache to know he and Iris's relationship didn't make it.
His actions caused pain to Iris, and his foolishness got her killed.
He wanted to marry her, grow old with her.
She was his soulmate.
But he broke his promise.
He promised her that he would be there for her.
And he wasn't.
In a way, he killed her in the end.
******************************
It took him three years to begin a new album with Slipknot.
He still hadn't forgotten about Iris, it just got easier...
Or harder.
He would start crying at random times.
He would have nightmares about her. He would usually wake up in a pool of his own tears and sweat.
He wouldn't go back to sleep after that. He would just stare at the empty side of the bed, where Iris used to sleep.
You couldn't talk about her in front of him.
Hearing her name would just break him down.
He missed her.
He missed everything about her.
He missed wrapping his arms around her slender waist and kissing her soft lips.
He missed her soft voice, and her warm smile.
She was special to him.
He had never loved anyone as much as he loved her.
He missed telling her how much he loved her.
He wanted so bad to tell her that he still cared.
And how he would never forget her.
Ever.
