Woke up today at 9. Showered, dressed, ate, left. It luckily wasn’t a long drive to the beach. When I parked, it hit me, I’m really in Sam Clemente, I’m really in California! I looked around for a few minutes taking in the sites, the beauty, then I decided to go explore. I shut my truck off and got out, grabbing my backpack; with my skateboard attached to it; out of the bed. I locked up and headed for the beach.

When I got to the sidewalk, it was the edge of civilization before it was all sand, I stopped. Looking for something that would tell me that I had returned to my truck when I was ready to leave. After finding a beach marker, I started out. After walking for about 20 minutes, I bought some ice cream from one of those cart vendors, unhooked my board and continued at a slow pace down the sidewalk.

God this place was beautiful! Sand and clear blue water as far as the eye could see! I turned back to watch where I was going. Good thing too, some kids ball was rolling right in my path. I had enough time to do an ollie instead of just stopping because to my horror, the kid was following the ball!!! When I landed; jumping over the kid too; I skidded to a stop. The kid did too. Unfortunately, he started crying when I was more than certain I hadn’t hit him.

I ran over and dropped to my knees next to where he had sat on the sidewalk. “Hey buddy, you’re okay, you’re fine. No harm done!” I tried to comfort him, then his mom jumped in!

“Oh! Brandon!! Are you okay?!?” She cooed him before glaring at me. “Why don’t you hooligans pay attention! Skateboarding should be banned on this path!!” She yelled at me.

“Ma’am, I’m sorry, but I am absolutely positive that I didn’t hit… Brandon. I narrowly missed him.”

“Yeah right! You people would say anything to save your butts!”

I started to protest politely again but was interrupted, “excuse me, but it’s true, she didn’t hit your little boy.” We both turned to see Ryan Sheckler standing there with a man holding a camera standing next to him. “We have the evidence. Dave, show ‘em.”

Then Brandon’s mom, Ryan, and I watched me make the jump and land without touching the boy.

“I’m sorry young lady, I was mistaken.” She apologized.

“It’s okay and understandable.”

The boy had stopped crying, “Come on Brandon. Let’s go.” She said and walked away.

I turned towards Ryan, “thanks, that was extremely lucky you had that on tape.”

“You’re welcome! I saw-er, we saw it about to happen and thought you could use some help before she chewed your head off!”

We laughed, “yeah, thanks again.” I started to walk away when he stopped me.

“Hey, do you wanna hang? Skate with us? I mean, that was some air you got. I’ve never seen someone get that much air off of a flat surface without a ramp!”

I laughed, “thanks, I would love to.”

“Sweet!”

We walked over to the other people he was with, “ I’m Jordyn by the way.”

He laughed, “awesome. Pleasure to meet you!” Then he introduced me to the others.

Well, it was probably the best day of my life! After all day, we hung, ate, skated. He knows I’m only 16, but he didn’t care. He kept flirting. I didn’t mind. Would you? He’s a professional skateboarder, he’s cute, and sweet! Finally we ended up by where I was parked.

“Well, it was awesome meeting you, I had a really great day."

“Hey, do you wanna come over? We’re just gonna hang.”

“I wish, but I gotta go to sleep, my first day of school tomorrow.”

“Really? You just moved here?”

“Kind of," I answered.

“Where you from?” He asked curiously.

“Madison, Wisconsin.”

“Damn, long way.”

I laughed, “yeah.”

“Can I call you?”

I blushed and said yes. We then exchanged phone numbers and I walked up the path to my truck. I smiled the whole way home. When I got there, my phone rang, caller id said, ‘Ryan Sheckler’ I laughed, “Hello?”

“Hey.”

“What’s up?”

“I forgot to ask, do you want to hang out tomorrow? We are just going to chill at my house, have a cook out…”

“Yeah, I would love to.”

“Cool, I’ll talk to you more about it tomorrow.”

“Kay, talk to you later.” I smiled.

“Kay, bye.”

“Bye.”

I hung up and smiled again. Locked up an went to my room.

Now I’m going to go get ready for bed and go to sleep to prepare for school tomorrow.
