I woke up every hour starting at 5:30, then 6:30 and so on until my alarm finally went off at 9:30. I sprung out of bed and into the bathroom. By the time I finished showering, got dressed, and ate, it was 9:55. I had 10 minutes till I had to leave. So naturally, I grabbed my bag and left.

When I got there, about 10 people were there, warming up. I was the only one who personally knew one of the reps. When I was stretching, it was 10:25, every one was there. Cathy walked in and made the 5 minute announcement, she saw me and called, “Jordyn! I’m glad you could make it!” She walked over so she wasn’t yelling.

“Hey, I’m glad to be here!”

She laughed and lowered her voice to a whisper since all the girls were looking at me after that hug and greeting, “I don’t want to say anything, but, you are definitely the best here. As well as the youngest.” She smiled and walked away just as Jesse walked into the room.

All the girls turned their attention to him as he hugged Cathy. She whispered something in his ear and pointed in my direction. Good thing I can read lips!

Cathy: “Jordyn is here, the one I was telling you about.”

Jesse: “Where? I gotta keep my eyes on her.”

Cathy: “Over there, in the blue top.” She said pointing. He then looked over and I quickly turned away. He sat down at the table at the head of the room.

“Alright! Everyone please take a seat. What I want you to do is one at a time, stand up and say your name and age. Then sit down, you don’t have to remember names, just listen and follow my instructions. Okay?” Jesse said.

“Okayy.” Everyone replied. So one at a time, each girl stood up, said their name and age and sat down. Of course he had a bio for everyone, he just wanted us to know our competition. It was my turn…..

“Hi, I’m Jordyn and I’m 16.” Everyone turned to stare at me.

Jesse laughed, “okay, thank you very much Jordyn.” He smiled at me. I sat down.

It got started pretty quick! “Raise your hand if you can sing!” Jesse called. Almost everyone raised their hands. He laughed, “I’m not going to look at your bios again, but I will be asking everyone to sing. So, if you can’t sing, get up and leave, ‘cuz you are wasting my time.” 6 of 20 girls got up and left. “Thank you! 6 down and 14 to go! One at a time, come up and sing a song. If you can’t sing on command, goodbye.” No one moved, “alright, let’s go!” My turn…. Still 14 to go. “Hey Jordyn, what are you gonna sing for me?”

“I’m going to sing ‘Not Your Enemy” by you.”

He smiled, “Go for it.” Note: I was the only one with the balls to sing one of his songs to him. I nailed it! He let me sing the whole song.

“Amazing! Thank you!” I sat down. All the girls after me were told to leave cuz quite frankly, they sucked. “Thank you! 10 down, 10 to go!” We looked at each  other. I remembered that all of these girls were 20 or 21, and at the time, I thought they have much more appeal then I do….

“First you all are going to show me the dance you prepared. Just bring up your music when it’s your turn.” He looked at me then, like he knew. “If you can dance whenever to whatever, we will choose a song for you.”

My turn, I was last. I went up, no music. He automatically knew and put a song on when I was ready he put ‘Love Me’ by Justin Bieber on. I remembered the dance from Monday.

“WOW!! Very good!” he said. After that, he stood up, “alright, everyone on your feet please! Thank you. I’m going to show you a dance, then I’m going to show you each step. You are going to put it all together the best you can. This is about me seeing how well you can adapt, and how much time it takes for you to learn a dance.” I smiled, “something funny Jordyn?” he asked amused.
