Olivia's POV:
As I saw mom's car drive away, I knew I had to go inside. I was there early to go pick up any work I had missed. I sat inside the science class all alone. I was working on a few papers when the bell rang and everyone started piling into the classroom."Oh look who's back." Sydney said staring right at me. I hadn't seen her since what had happened when we went to Claire's house.
She sat down right in front of me and I was waiting on the teacher to call her out on the fact that she wasn't sitting in her assigned seat but she never did. She would purposely fling her hair right onto my desk and I cannot tell you how many times I got the urge to get a pair of scissors and chop it off. She would get up and throw my papers onto the floor and she would walk by and scribble all over my papers too. She was just being a plain old bully.
I had made it through half of the day and then came lunch. I had decided to grab some food. I choose a slice of pizza and some applesauce. I wasn't all that hungry but I hadn't been eating these past few days so I knew I had to at least have a bite. I picked up my pizza and put it in my mouth. In that moment Sydney and her friends walked up. Sydney pushed the pizza against my face smearing hot cheese and sauce all over my face. I had had enough of her.
"What the HELL is wrong with you?!" I stood up and took my napkin and attempted to clean up my face.
"Nothing's wrong with me. Sadly, you can't say the same." She giggled as did all her friends.
"You think you're so tough but all that you do is these petty little pranks. You have an actual problem with me than do something that's not childish." I was infuriated and I was not letting her get away with this.
She looked embarrassed. It was as if no one had spoken to her like that. She walked up to me and pushed me. I knew this couldn't lead to anything good but she brought it upon her self.
I pushed her using more force. It all went down hill from there. Fists were flying and the whole cafeteria was full of the shouts of students who were chanting, "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" I managed to get on top of her and I punched her right in the face. There was blood everywhere and that's when a teacher finally came to break us apart.
"This is not the behavior I expect to see from young ladies! Both of you in the office NOW!"
Sydney walked to the office holding her nose and I was trying not to saying anything for fear that I was going to get in trouble. I knew they were going to call Mel and we weren't on the best of terms and I knew she was gonna let me have it.
We walked into the office and sat down outside the principals office. We waited for about thirty minutes. I saw two cars pull up outside and immediately knew it was Mel and Sydney's mom. I think for the first time, I was actually afraid of Mel. Her face was red. I could swear steam was blowing out of her ears. She marched towards the door instead of walking. Oh boy.
She stood right by my side and I knew she was waiting until we got home. "Olivia Johnson and Melanie Brown?"
"Yes?" Mel answered for us. "Right in here please." Said one of the office workers and led us into the room. "Thank you." Mel half whispered as we sat down in front of the principals desk. The lady left and shut the door behind her.
"Well seems like we've got quite a problem here." The principal said. He was a little man with a deep deep voice. It was kind of funny but I tried my best to hide my smile and laughter.
"So what happened in the cafeteria." He asked.
"Sydney decided to push my food into my face. This is zero percent my fault." I said because in my defense, it was not.
"Well both of you are at blame here because both of you took part in this." He said looking at me over his glasses.
"This can't go unpunished so I think the best solution is a two day suspension. If this happens again I can guarantee you that your punishment will be much more severe. I'm also expecting you to write a page on why what you did was wrong and how you will apologize to each other."
"Sounds fair." I said. Mel just nodded. She knew this was not like me and I knew too.
"Your teachers will send you any work and it is expected to be completed. If you have any questions you can contact the school." I nodded.
I had nodded so much throughout this conversation that I felt that my head was going to break off of my neck. "We will call you and Sydney into the office when you both come back and discuss any further problems. For now, you may be excused."
"Thank you very much." Mel said and shook his hand. We walked out the door and into the car.
The first few minutes of the car ride were silent. "Are you gonna say anything?" I decided to break the awkward silence.
"How could you act out like this at school? You couldn't deal with this a more civilized way?!" There was the big blowup and I knew she wasn't anywhere near being done. "I except more from you. You're such a bright girl and your going to let someone get in the way of that?"
"You don't understand." That was the only thing I managed to get out. I went the whole ride listening to Mel go on and on about how girls like that only want to seem cool and stuff. I wasn't listening because she didn't know my side of the story and I could tell she wasn't interested in hearing it.
We got home and I stayed in my room for most of the day. Stephen came home around 5:30 and he was a bit more understanding as to what had happened. I knew Mel wasn't mad at me but at my actions. Motherly instinct I guess but I loved her for still caring and saying what she needed to say.
We talked about it and she understood what had happened a bit more. She knew part of it was my fault for tempting Sydney but fully understood that I did it because I was fed up with her. We talked for awhile and then she went down stairs to make dinner.
My phone wasn't taken away so I had access to Instagram and such. Oh if only you saw the things Sydney and everyone else were saying.
