"I came here as fast as I could!" Mom yelled running to my side. "Is my baby okay?"
"I don't know yet, mom," I replied as I wiped my tears.
"What happened?" Dad asked.
"Shad jumped Isaiah and he's hurt real bad," Trevor managed to say through his tears.
"Who are you?" Dad questioned looking at him up and down. Trevor stammered and stumbled on his words and Janice and Iree were out of ways to lie by the look on their faces.
"His friend," Mom interjected. "And project partner." Me and Dad both looked at her confused as ever. When did she find this out?
"I didn't know you and Isaiah were friends. I thought y'all hated each other," I replied.
"We've settled our differences," Trevor stated. I looked at him with suspicion. Mom, him, Emaja, and Iree all knew something that me and Dad didn't. And I didn't like it one bit.
"Are we gunna press charges?" I asked scratching my scalp.
"HELL YEAH WE PRESSING CHARGES!!!" Dad roared angrily. "I'm texting my lawyer right now!!"
"Simmons family?" someone asked. We all turned around and ran to the voice eager to hear what the person had to say.
"Isaiah is in critical condition. He had a nice piece of glass lodged in his back that we had to surgically remove and he has a broken nose, a few broken ribs, and a few other cuts and bruises," the doctor explained.
"Can someone go see him?" Mom asked with a desperate look on her face.
"He's been asking to see someone by the name of Tierra since he woke up," the doctor replied. Everyone looked over at me and I smiled just a little. My mom looked pissed as all get out and so was Dad and Trevor.
"I'll come back with a status report," I said as I followed behind the doctor. I was still extremely hurt about all the events that manage to happen in one day and if I could change it all, dammit I would.
I entered his room to see him with an eye purple and swollen shut, a bandage over his nose, bandages wrapped around his rib cage, and cuts and scrapes all over his face.
I covered my mouth as I looked at him in horror. This is what they did to my brother. This is what the dude who stole my virginity did to my brother. I started to cry silently as I took a seat next to him.
"TT, don't cry," Isaiah whispered grabbing my hand.
"I'm sorry, I just can't help it," I murmured wiping my cheeks.
"No, need to apologize. If the tables were turned that would be exactly what I would do," he replied squeezing my hand tight.
"Do you know who did this to you?" I asked. I wanted to see if he would lie or tell me the truth, a known tactic by all women.
"Yeah," he answered. "I know you won't believe me, but it was Shad."
"I know it was," I replied.
"You do?" he asked. His eyebrows were high on his forehead as he stare at me in disbelief.
"Yeah... Trevor already told me... I believed him instantly because of what Shad said to me when he..." I started to explain everything, but I stopped knowing I would bring Isaiah's blood pressure up if I did.
"When he what?" Isaiah asked.
"When he came over for the answers to the homework," I lied. "He told me he was 'handling some business' and that you wouldn't be home 'any time soon'."
