Dark sat alone on a soft, dull bed. The room shrouded in shadows. He sighed and whispered things to himself for comfort as he stared out the window, the floral curtains were dead-still not even a small breeze arrived to nudge them. Even with the open window, no light shone through. The sky was covered in murky, looming clouds that added to the gloomy, quiet atmosphere. He tapped the polished, wooden floor with his toes out of boredom. The smell of loneliness wafted around him. Quietly he hummed to himself, trying to keep himself occupied for a while. He laid back letting out a deep sigh. "Why am I here?" He mumbled. With a small giggle, a girl with piercing amber eyes, and the face of a young teen pokes her head through the window, her amber eyes gleaming.
"You wanna know why? I have a friend who can answer that and any other questions that dwell on your mind." Quickly, Dark scrambled to his feet, wobbling ever-so slightly.
"You do?!" He asked, feeling hopeful yet suspicious. That girl, something was off about her. She nods, delicately.
"Yep, over there." She points to a space in the room devoid of life, or rather devoid of anything really. Turning to look, he grumbles in disappointment.
"I should have known you were joking..." Dark swivels around to look at her again, a scowl on his face, he was about to snap at her for teasing him but a strange voice, laced with an Irish accent, interrupts him. "She is not."
Dark backs away, stumbling over his own two feet. He was too frightened to speak and as the voice, of which he couldn't see the source, continued to talk to him his mouth grew dry and his eyes only portrayed fear if you were to look into them. "Don't worry Laddie, I only answer questions, nothing more." It said in a calm tone. He retreats into a corner, unable to make his mouth move to form a word. He could only think about the pessimistic side of the future. "It's me you have to watch out for." The girl says, a dark smile creeping across her face, worsening his thoughts.
"Why am I here?" He stutters quietly, sliding down the wall, slowly, into a sitting position. The voice stays silent for a moment.
"Because, she put you here." It answers, the creepy girl began to climb through the window and approach Dark. He so desperately wanted to call for help, but the stench of livestock suggested this was a farm. No one was going to hear him in an isolated place such as this.
"Why did she place me here?" He asked in a quiet voice. Dark squeezes into the corner as much as possible, trying to get further away from the girl, who encroached him. As she grew closer it appeared to be that she was wearing a small headband with cat-like ears attached but a flick of them said otherwise.
The voice seemed to sigh. "Because she found you... 'Appealing'." Dark tilted his head, confused. He reached up, as if to touch her ears, which he was mesmerised by, but he restrained himself. Although she had ears, she had no tail as far as Dark could see. "How am I 'appealing'?" He asked quietly. The cat-girl smiled "you remind me of someone, but you smell better than he." She places her hands on his shoulders and rubs her face over his chest. Dark pushes her back trying to maintain his personal bubble of space. "Who is this, 'someone'?" He interrogates her. Hissing with a slight whine, she sits down gazing at the floor. He fidgets uncomfortably, averting his eyes.
"It doesn't matter, but you make me feel like the butterflies. They tell me to find what makes me happy." She smirked with sharp teeth, inching closer. She smelt his fear, his undeniable fear, he reeked of it. He had squeezed his eyes firmly shut, preparing for her to attack at any moment, before stammering. "What do you plan on doing with me?"
A ghostly smile spread across her lips, making Dark shudder, feeling like snakes were slithering up his spine.
