CHAPTER 6

(Alex’s Point of View)

Adrian rubbed his thumb in soothing circles on my inner thigh, while Fetch was rubbing his hand up and down. I gulped and tried to get Lindzay’s attention, she happened to turn and look at me, and i mouthed ‘Help me!’ and my eyes flicked between the two boys.

The soda she was pretending to drink squirted out her nose, and she burst into laughter. That being all the distraction needed I jumped up and ran around to her, “You okay, Lindz?” She coughed and shook her head, trying to cover her laughter, but I don’t think anyone was fooled. ‘I hate you so much right now,‘ I transmitted my voice into her head and she thought, ‘You little player!’ She guffawed again and I hit her hard on the back, pretending I was helping her cough up all the drink, but, well, I was just plain hitting her.

I knew Fetch would know something’s up because he knows we can drink anything other than blood, and even Adrian’s eyes narrowed slightly, which confused me, but I pretended not to notice either of them. Soon enough Adrian’s face was full of concern and he asked Lindzay if she was alright.

Turning around, I asked the group behind us if they were using one of the empty chairs, their stuttering gave me my answer and I pulled It up next to Lindzay, I didn’t want to have to sit between the two boys.

For the rest of the day, all I could think about was Adrian, and not in a ‘oh my sweet Jesus, he is fiiine’ kind of way. That almost unnoticeable look in his eyes had me completely baffled. It’s like he knew what Lindzay was… But then again, I was probably over reacting, so I just brushed it off.

“What do we have next?” I asked Fetch, entwining our hands together as he leaned casually against his locker.

“Schools over Ali,” He laughed, and I almost slapped my face out of my own stupidity. Have I really been out like that all day?

“Oh…”

He gave me one of his trademark heart-melting smiles. “How come you have been of with the faeries all day?” His hands snaked their way around my hips and he pulled me close to him, concern written all over his face.

“Just thinking about the war.” I whispered, scared at how good my lie was. To be honest, I had completely forgotten about Tyranax and his stupid war until now.

“It’s okay beautiful, everything will be fine.” His calm voice relaxed me, the war was quite shocking. Tyranax is supposed to be dead; Father swore on his life he killed him during the Great Raid.

“I know,” I tilted my head back and gave Fetch a warm smile, and reached up to kiss him gently on his warm lips. Shivers ran up my spine.

“Cold?” The flirty tone was back in his voice, and he trailed his finger up and down my back.

“No.” My voice was a whisper, and a smirk appeared on his face.

He went to kiss me again, but I pulled back and let go of him, knowing he would follow me. “I feel like gummy bears,” I announced randomly, having the sudden craving.

“To cold rock?”

This boy knows me too well, “To the Cold Rock Ice-Creamery!” I declared.

**

Fetch’s hands were clasped firmly around my thighs and was cringing as I deliberately slurped up my ice-cream is his sensitive ears. All of a sudden his hands were gone and I was falling to the ground, but my vampire reflexes had me back on my feet in no time.
