I was sitting beside the wall of the tack room cleaning of my English bridle and saddle getting it ready for the show tomorrow. It was the second show out of the year for show jumping and I have to say I was really scared. It was also my first year with my new horse "Mel", he was a chestnut with a white little star on his forehead. I loved him so much and I could never ask for any better horse if I had to. The first show that I did this year was about a month ago in June, and we did awesome! My family and I own an awesome farm with thirteen horses and five of them are borders. My mom is a full time veterinarian slash trainer for horses and people. And for my dad he just works around the farm and takes care of the horses when my mom is not home. I could never ask for any better place to live then here.
I heard Mel dance around a little in his stall right next to the tack room. I knew It was nothing but I checked anyway. I got up from sitting in my spot next to where my saddle and bridle where hanging and went to see what was the matter with Mel. So I opened the tack room door and saw that a new horse just moved into the empty stall across him. I looked around to see if I can find the owner but I really only could see the horse. The horse was a gray mare named "Sugar" that said "Sweet As Sugar" on her stall.
I was just petting Sugar when all the sudden a girl with long blonde hair about sixteen or so started yelling at me from the end of the barn with tack in her hand. "Get away from my horse!" I was so startled that I almost jumped out of my skin. I backed away from the horse slowly and said in a kind voice "Your horse is very nice". She snapped back at me with a rude tone and said "Did anyone ever tell you that you do not just go up to a horse you don't know and pet it?" I did not answer that one but I did snap back and say " Do you even know who your talking to?" She looked at me with a confused fave and said " What?" I kind of wanted to laugh at that answer but I still wanted to stand my ground. Then I said in a much kinder voice but still holding on to my rude tone " Just so you know I am the owner of this farm's daughter!" She looked at me with a different face this time, a face that told me she was suddenly scared of ..... Me? Then still with the face she had on she said " Oh sorry" and walked into the tack room to put away her stuff. I wanted to fallow her and try to make friends but it made me think. I mean if I just had this very same conversation with the owner's daughter at the place I just started boarding at. I don't think I would want to be bothered.
The girl with the long blonde hair just could not stop going back and forth from her car then to the tack room. I really do not mean to be rude but I just wanted to know more about this blonde, mean, weird, person. I mean how much stuff can you possibly fit in a truck then stuff it all in a little tack room that I bet if I looked in it it would be so full that if you opened the door everything would fall on your face. I just sat in the loft of the barn by the window were you could see my house and the girl's truck and trailer. Most of the hay was stored here in the loft and some old tack we do not use anymore. Her truck and trailer were just parked in front of the barn by my big white house from the loft. My mom was not home at the moment but my dad's truck was parked in front of the house. I watched the girl that seemed like hours going back in forth to her truck. But then after an hour or so she finally stopped putting stuff in the the tack room and what seemed like she was getting ready to go for a ride. But If I just got done putting all that tack away I would first want to go to sleep then maybe go for a ride after.
After about five minutes or so I started walking down the stairs slowly from the loft so I would not be noticed. But when I got down to the end of the stairs I sat on the last step so I could just see the girl with the long blonde hair a little and so that she could not see me. Sugar's stall was the last stall on the right of the six stall barn. The order of the stalls from the front of the barn to back on the right was first Acorn, then Ace, and last was Sugar. On the left side of the barn was first Gabby, then Bella, and last was Mel who which was across Sugar. Gabby was not a horse that my family owned but was a border who was owned by a very nice twelve year old girl named Ava. Me and Ava always go into shows together. Sometimes we compete with each other but most if the time we are in different classes. The girl with the long blonde hair was just putting her horse in the cross ties which was in the middle of Sugar's and Mel's stall. Sugar was facing out the back of the barn which lead out to more horses in pens and my out door arena and my big in door arena. I sat there for about ten minutes or so when the girl with the long blonde hair was grooming her horse. The girl seemed to be very nice to her horse which made Sugar be nice to her. Sugar and the girl with the long blonde hair seemed to have a very strong bond much like me and Mel which I only got him about four mouths ago. Because I had to get a new horse was because my horse Acorn that I was riding before Mel for about two years was getting old and could not jump as high as I needed him to. I still love Acorn very much but even for myself I think it was best for me to move on to a new horse. The girl with the long blonde hair was leading her horse with a English saddle and bridle on to the big indoor arena. But when I was just about to follow her my dad started calling me to come inside from the front of the barn. I toke a quick look at the the girl with the long blonde hair then scampered over to my dad which put his hand around me and started up for the house.
When me and my dad got inside my dad asked if I have talked to Kate yet? I was already half way up the stairs in the house which was connected to the kitchen were my dad was standing looking at me with a concerned face on. I looked at him with a confused face but then I started looking at the ground with a much sadder face on. My dad still had his same face and then I said in a low voice "yes. I did" and then started walking up the stairs. My dad did not stop me but I could still tell that he knew something was wrong. I went to my room which was at the end of the hall that was pretty much full of horse ribbons. I walked to my bed and flopped down on it and breathed in a big gulp of air and held it in for a couple of seconds and then let it out. I did that a lot if I was stressed, nerves, or angry. But I really just do that so I can claim down. I was just laying there when my mom entered the room she just had to look at me and she just knew something was wrong. I was a little confused when she came in my room because I did not even hear her enter the house. She looked at me with a sad face on trying to copy mine. My mom walked over to me and sat their for a few seconds and asked if I was nerves for the horse show tomorrow? I turned and looked at her and said "No it's not that" and right after I said that I turned and looked forward again. She looked at me for another few seconds and then looked forward again and started telling me about how she saved a dog that got stuck in a barb wire fence. She told me that the owner got so scared that when they toke the dog into the vet the owner did not only bring in the dog they also practically brought the entire fence that was attached to the dog. That made and and my mom laugh a little but that still did not take away the idea of how rude Kate was. But then my mom told me her favorite part. she said "when we were even trying to be as gentility as we can the dog still would not do anything". I was a little confused about that sentence so I faced my mom with a interested face which meant that I wanted to know more. So then my mother said "even though the dog was in pain he still did not move because he knew we were trying to help him". After my mom told her story I started to hug her. Then I said "do you know the new girl Kate?" Then my mom looked at me when I was hugging and said "yes". And then I said "well she was really mean to me when I was talking to her bu....." Then I stopped talking and sat up strait. I ran up to the door and said "you know what it's not that important, and I best be getting to sleep for my big show tomorrow". I had a big smile on my face and then my mom started walking for the door than stopped and looked at me and then started walking out the door.
After I was done changing into my pajamas I started to tuck my self in. The reason why I did not my mom about Kate was because if I did my mom would ask her about it then she would hate me even more! I just wanted to go to sleep but I just could not stop thinking about Kate. It was really weird that I could not get her off of my mind. I was just laying there trying to open my mind to anything but Kate. So I started thinking about Mel. I started to think about how much more beautiful he will look besides to all the other horses. But then all the sudden I saw Kate walking Sugar with English tack on to the in door arena when I was washing Mel. What if she is also going to be in the show with me! "Shes going to kill" I said out loud. I mean I am the owners daughter but she can still hate me right? Why can I not think of anything else but Kate?
