“Welcome to Queens University of Fashion, Music, and Arts.” An energetic lady welcomed Megan and I at the lobby of the school. I think her name was Audrey.
She was apparently a senior volunteering on helping out freshmen students be familiarized with the campus, and a few rules and regulations they want us to be reminded of, including not having someone of the opposite sex inside our dorm room.
Good thing, Megan was my roommate, or else we may have been a bit threatening if we find out we weren’t going to be in the same room, and we have to be sociable on the first time we get here.
Megan and I are sociable though, but we were just tired from our trip and therefore we have no time to meet and greet other people, instead we’re longing for the soft and fluffy beds right now to have some peaceful sleep.
But Audrey has a different plan on mind. After giving us keys to our room, we found her following us on our way to our room. And we thought it would end there, but then the nosy lady decided to come in uninvited.
We thought she’d leave us alone.
“Okay, so this will be your room, room 128.” She said while pointing to the door which had a sign this was indeed room 128.
No shit, Sherlock.
Megan fake gasped, which earned a chuckle from me. Audrey seemed to be offended, but didn’t say anything else.
We plopped down on our beds, leaving our suitcases near the cabinets. Hey, we have four years so it’s not too early to get unpacked and we didn’t mind having messy rooms because no one will ever be invited inside. We didn’t really care at all.
Audrey was still standing in the middle looking at us, perhaps waiting for us to ask questions. Though the only question I had in mind was ‘What time are you leaving?’ It’s rude I know, but can she move the orientation time to another day, I just want to sleep.
“So girls, there would be an orientation about organizations in the afternoon. Different groups will be available in the field, where you can join whichever you want.” She explained, but both Megan and I just looked at her, nodding, or more likely, please-get-out-now-we-need-sleep kind of look, which she may have noticed our lack of communication, and decided to leave on her own.
As soon as the door closed, our eyes did the same, and we both were sound asleep, hugging the fluffy pillows and maybe, a bit daydreaming.

Staying in London for four days were fun, but it was tiring. Going around and trying our best to try out different delicacies, meeting new people, having loads of photos while touring the city’s best spots, and buying souvenirs were all our concerns during the trip. Of course, with all of that planned, we come home to the hotel when everything’s close and then wake up again early in the morning to start our day ahead.
It was the most adventurous thing I have done for the four days, without any parental consent. We were basically living on our own, and that felt great.
Sure enough, we needed to pay the price as the moment we stepped foot back in homeland we were sleepy as hell. Yep, we missed the orientation. We missed going around the campus and sign up for organizations. We missed meeting new people that were supposed to be in our classes, or whatever. We missed the whole thing as we woke up at 7pm, just in time for dinner. And the worse thing was, we were hungry but didn’t know the way to the cafeteria so we ended up hounding the vending machines located in each floor of the door rooms.
What a way to start your day at the university.
We could have gone out and bought at a fast food, but neither of us wanted to walk. Our cars haven’t been delivered to our campus, and both our parents will be joining us next weekend, so we don’t have a car for the whole week.
