Chapter 1

I still can't believe me and Augustus are cancer free. I never thought I would see the day that people would find a cure for cancer in general.

I still have to wear my canel and carry my oxygen tank around. I'm cancer free but I still have breathing problems. Me having to breath in through an oxygen tank is nothing compared to the the worry of the last day you will talk to your parents, the last day you'll ever be able to smell the food your mother is cooking for you.

My phone interrupts my thoughts with a 'Bing!'

I turn on my phone and Augustus sent me a message. It reads; Hello Beautiful! I was thinking to celebrate our cancer free body's we could have a picnic at Funky Bones!?;)

I instantly want to give Augustus the biggest hug. I hurry up and write him back.

Hi Handsome! I think that would be wonderful! :)

I get a reply in under a minute;

Great! I will pick you up @11!? Okay?

Okay. :')

I look at the clock above my bed and it says it's 10:30am

I am so excited! I jump in the shower and wash up and wash my hair with coconut Shampoo. After I dry my hair I put on a pair of black skinny jeans and a white crop top. Nothing fancy. Its still early so I paint over the chipped polish on my nails with the black nail Polish that Augustus liked so much.

I look at the clock on my phone again and it's 2 minutes from 11! I hurry up and put on a pair of black flats and go downstairs.

As I thought Augustus was there at 11:00 exact. I am running out the door with a jacket when I hear my Mom yell something. I stop and ask what she said.

"I said have fun honey!"

"Oh! Thanks, I will!"

Augustus is waiting in his car until he sees me. He jumps out and limps over to my side of the car and he opens the door for me.

"Thank you Augustus"

"Anything for my Hazel Grace"

The driving is a blur from home to Funky Bones. I love Augustus but... his driving! Oh my God it's atrocious! But I try not to let on that his driving his bad.

"I remember like it was yesterday, you know... you drawing the circles in the dirt over there. We had such little time.  And we made the best of  it." I Say looking up at Augustus

"I was thankful for our little infinity. Now I'm thankful for our big infinity."

We go over to where we usually sit. Augustus takes out Champagne and Pb and J Sandwiches.

"Nothing too fancy."

"Everything is fancy when it involves you." I Say

Augustus just smiles with that beautiful smile of his. We indulge  ourselves in Champagne and sandwiches until we are about to blow.

"Shall we go back!?"

"We shall!"

Before Augustus drops me off after our picnic we hug for a long time. Then we seal off the afternoon with a kiss.
