For everyone who skipped the first 3 chapters I just have to say that you didn't really miss anything. For everyone who did read the first 3 chapters, Thank you for not giving up and crying your eyes out at how bad they were. :) Now you can read on to the rest of the story that I feel is better than the beginning.

I was freaking out. The smells were strong to my now more sensitive nose. I was aware that a family of coyotes was here earlier as I crossed their scent. My hearing was catching all the sounds of wildlife scuttling on the forest floor, especially a mouse running from me. Eyes that would be having trouble seeing in this little to no light were able to see a tree several yards before I came up to it.

I was very aware that I had to be the loudest creature in these woods. No hunter would have a problem finding me even if they weren’t looking for me. I didn’t know where I was going, but something told me not to stop.

I did; however, slow down without stopping, so I could assess my situation better before I met up with whatever I was being led to.

My assessment was: I was obviously dreaming, otherwise I was suffering from a severe case of lycanthropy. There was just no way I was running through the woods as a wolf, and still be awake.

I assume I was in Oklahoma, and with all the green plants I guess I was in Green Country, or else the name was seriously misleading. And the fact that I have been running for several miles through woods and haven’t come across a road or building, leads me to believe I am nearer a small town than a big city.

I took a deep breath to try and find any identifiable scents. I could clearly smell a lake. It smelled of dirty water with a vague sense of heat, as if it were always in the sunlight. A creek on the other hand would smell cleaner and colder.

I don’t know how I knew it but I was heading east, and the lake smell was coming from behind me. The only lake I could think of near a small town in Green Country was Lake Hudson. That would mean that I was east of Salina, a lakeside town north of Locust Grove.

Now that I deduced where I was I could relax a little and pick up my pace again. I wanted to get to where I was headed as fast as I could and head back home and find a way back into my human form. Good thing I was dreaming because this dream will most likely end when I meet whatever I am headed towards.

I soon became aware of another presence. I didn’t know what it was, just that it didn’t belong. I clambered over a fallen tree to get a better understanding of its scent. It smelled musky and wild, which somehow was familiar.

While on top of the tree I saw a bush move nearby. Cautiously, I jumped down from the tree and approached the bush, with a couple of feet to go a growl emanated from it.

Now, as far as I'm concerned trees don’t growl. They grown in a very stiff wind, but not growl.

No matter how odd, though, I wasn’t intimidated. Confused? Yes, but not intimidated. Lifting my tail in defiance and growling as menacingly as I could at a bush was the only comeback I could come up with. I could easily back up what little threat I had made with my growl, because I was a big wolf, bigger than what normal wolves would be. I guess my size was due to the fact that I wasn’t a normal wolf.

Putting on my best human straight face, not so sure it looks the same as a wolf, I leaned forward to get a closer look. Staring back at me were penetrating yellow eyes. Staring into those eyes I realized why the scent was familiar. Both the eyes and scent were from my other dreams.
