It was just another day like every other. For me that is. Not everyone ends up leaving a guys apartment at 3 am. Well actually that happens pretty often. Lets just say it happens too often for me. I don't stay in one place with one person very long. No I'm not dumb and can't find a job, I'll have you know I graduated at the top of my class and went to college for 4 years. Then why am I throwing my life away you ask? Well because life is meaningless, that's it, it's meaningless.
As I was walking out the door the man whose appartment I was currently leaving and whose name I didn't bother to remember came out of his room and grabbed my arm.
"What do you want?"
"Just stay for a little while, eat something maybe?"
"No, I have to go."
"Go where?"
"Don't ask to many questions."
"Well how many is to many?"
I just rolled my eyes and walked back in the door and sat on the stool at the island counter while he just smiled and sat across from me.
"So where are you from and where do you currently live?"
"No where and no where."
He looked puzzled but just went with it.
"Well my name is Brian. Yours is?"
"Alexandra."
"Your real name."
"... Dylan."
"Well that's a very pretty name for a very pretty girl."
"I have a boys name."
"Not necessarily.'
"Coffee?"
"Sure. Thanks."
"So what did you mean you aren't from anywhere? Do you need a place to stay?"
"Non of your business and no."
"You sure? I don't bite."
"I'm fine. I should get going."
I rushed out the door. He was trying to say something but I didn't hear what it was. I got in my car and drove. I don't know where but that's normal for me.
I ended up staying in the area for a while since I didn't actually have a plan on where to go next. I slept in my car most of the time and ate at cheap dinners.
One night I went to a dinner and and after I ordered my drink the wait or came up to me.
"Um my shift is over but Brian here will be waiting on you."
I looked up and saw him. I almost choked on my drink. He just smiled at me and asked what I'd like to eat. I ordered, ate, and left as soon as possible.
Later I was out by my car and some guy came up to me, stole my wallet, and pushed me to the ground. It's not that big of a deal I only had 5 bucks in there. That is all I had though. I'll just have to not eat for a few days until I make some money, the only way I know how to make money.
It started to rain and as I was getting in my car Brian came up to me.
"Hey are you okay? I saw what happen but I wasn't allowed to leave the returuant until now sorry. Hey come stay at my house again it's raining and you don't have a place to stay or money I'm assuming."
"Well you assumed wrong just leave me alone."
I got in my car but he got in the passanger side. Goddamit why didn't I lock that.
"Please I'm just trying to protect you because ya know I care."
"Well then stop caring because I don't need help now please get out of my car."
"Come on please just stay for a few nights until you figure things out and leave. Just so you have a place to stay that's not a car and food."
I finally gave in and drove to his apartment. I stayed on the couch and was rarely home. I was out making money my way so he didn't have to feed me. It's enough he's giving up his couch at night.
We were eating breakfast one morning because I didn't have enough money to get my own food.
'Glad you joined me today."
"Well I'm broke so."
"So do you work anywhere besides you know sleeping around."
"No. I don't."
"Any family?"
"No."
"Well that's sad."
"Yup."
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I just don't understand how such a beautiful girl can have such an awful life."
"My life isn't awful. It seems just fine to me."
"I'm sorry."
"Quit saying that."
"So- okay."
"Come with me later."
"Where?"
"It's a suprise."
"I hate suprises."
"You'll like this one."
"Fine."
I got in his car and we drove to the center of town. We walked into some really nice shops and he told me to pick out clothes.
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
We argued like that forever.
"Are you guys buying something or not?"
The store clerk asked. Before I could answer Brian said yes.
"Now pick out something."
"Why."
"You need new clothes, you've been wearing those ones for 3 days now."
I picked out an outfit then Brian looked at the size then started picking out more nice looking clothes. Every time I told him to stop and put things back he ignored me and picked them back up.
We got in the car.
"Why did you do that?"
"Like I said because I care."
"Why do you care?"
"I don't know I just know that I don't want to lose you."
I was silent for the rest of the ride. Once we got home I went in the shower and got changed into some of my new clothes.
At night while Brian was sleeping I took all the money I have which should more than cover the clothes, put it on the counter, grabbed the clothes, and I left. I got in my car and I drove away from this town.
